Broad access
Why this level
- The CLI includes `loop`, `sandbox`, hooks and workflow execution through `agx run`; these can execute code and commands with access to the process’s files and credentials.
- The documentation does not explain how these actions are approved; inspect permissions and restrictions for the selected mode before running it.
Install
In your terminal, with SkillFoxx CLI
npx skillfoxx add cli/agenticx-cliDetects the agents on your machine, shows the access level and pins the version.

What it does
AgenticX CLI manages agent-platform projects from a terminal. Developers create a starter structure, run a local client API and process documents through separate commands. The package combines agents, memory and connected tools. The CLI can execute workflows, run agent loops and use `sandbox` for code execution. Select the model and components before running them. Near Desktop is another interface to the platform; it is not required for `agx` commands.
Who it is for. AgenticX developers using a terminal and local API without the desktop client.
Good fit when
- A developer creates a starter agent structure from a template.
- A client connects to a local AgenticX server on a selected port.
- A document is parsed into a separate output directory.
- Only dependency groups needed by the chosen workflow are added.
Not a fit when
- You need a finished autonomous workflow without model or task setup.
- You expect the base package to include all memory, OCR and server features.
- You need a production HA cluster from one CLI command.
Example request
Create a test AgenticX project, show its structure and list dependencies before running a model.Limitations
Python 3.10 or later is required; the AgenticX Python package installs `agx`. The base installation does not include every feature: memory, documents and OCR need their optional dependency groups. Configure a model separately through a cloud-provider key or your own running server. Before launch, check `pip show litellm`: releases 1.82.7 and 1.82.8 were removed from PyPI following reports of API-key theft and must not remain among the dependencies.
How to disable. Stop `agx serve` and any other working processes. Removing the package does not delete projects, memory data or saved documents.
FAQ
How do I start the server?
Run `agx serve --port 8000` after installing server dependencies and configuring the environment.
Which package installs `agx`?
The `agenticx` Python package; version 0.6.5 registers it as a separate console entry point.
Can I avoid the heavy OCR dependencies?
Yes. OCR belongs to the optional `ocr` group, which can pull in torch and other large dependencies. Leave that group uninstalled when your workflow does not need recognition.
How do I parse a document?
The README uses `agx mineru parse report.pdf --output ./parsed`. Substitute your PDF and output directory, and install the document-processing dependencies before running it.
Is Near Desktop required?
No. The CLI and server belong to the shared platform; the desktop app is a separate user interface.

README in short
The repository presents the CLI, Near Desktop and enterprise gateway as separate components. Choose instructions for the component you need, since installation and features differ.
