Why this level
- The update command changes the image and restarts deployment services, which can interrupt active work.
Install
Manual install
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/labsai/EDDI/main/install.sh | bashFirst option for Linux, macOS and WSL2. Review the installer before running it; it creates the Docker deployment and CLI.

How we reviewExtended accessThe tool runs code or makes network calls and only reads external data.

What it does
EDDI’s CLI maintains a local agent-platform deployment. The installer creates a command wrapper that pulls a fresh Docker image and restarts the containers. The platform defines agents through JSON configuration and connects them to business systems. An administrator selects the database and optional services during setup. A web dashboard manages agents, and its Platform Operator requests human approval before writing changes.
Who it is for. EDDI administrators maintaining a repeatable installation and container update procedure.
Good fit when
- A server needs EDDI and a selected database installed through the setup wizard.
- A registry image changed under the same tag and the deployment needs an update.
- You want the dashboard and secret vault ready before configuring the first agents.
- A test deployment needs PostgreSQL and Keycloak sign-in.
Not a fit when
- A local skill is sufficient and no server infrastructure is needed.
- You expect the update command to repair legacy authentication configuration automatically.
- The target machine cannot run Docker.
Example request
Check the upgrade guide for my EDDI version and prepare an update plan that includes a database backup.Limitations
The installer requires Docker and creates services including a database; the owner remains responsible for backups and availability. Check the upgrade guide when crossing releases because `eddi update` does not repair an older Keycloak realm. Access from another machine requires changing the bind address and enabling authentication. External models need provider credentials; a local Ollama instance uses a separate Docker Compose configuration.
How to disable. Stop the deployment’s containers with Docker Compose. Preserve the database and vault encryption key if you intend to resume later.
FAQ
What does `eddi update` do?
It pulls the Docker image from the registry and restarts the containers, including when the same tag has been republished.
Where is the dashboard after installation?
It is on local port 7070. Open `/manage` for administration or `/chat` for chat.
Why is the CLI command missing?
The updated PATH may not be active yet. Restart the terminal or use `~/.eddi/eddi update` on Linux and macOS.
Can I pin a release?
Yes. The installer documents `--eddi-version=6.5.0` as a version-selection example. Choose a reviewed release before setup.
Must I expose the server to the network?
No. Docker Compose configurations bind EDDI to 127.0.0.1 by default. Keep that binding for local use.
