What it does
GenOffice is an open-source office suite with a built-in AI agent, and the app ships a genoffice command and an agent skill. Through them Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot, OpenCode and Windsurf create, read, convert and edit real Word, Excel and PowerPoint files on the machine without opening a window. It converts PDF to Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Markdown to Word and HTML to Word. Edits land as tracked changes with snapshots and rollback, and spreadsheets get live formulas. Every genoffice command is also an MCP tool: a client can start genoffice mcp itself and get a tool set plus operation references.

The genoffice command and the skill come with the GenOffice app, so it must be installed; builds exist for macOS, Windows and Linux. AI features run on your own model key (Claude, OpenAI, Gemini and other compatible endpoints). Files open, edit and save locally.
