Broad access
Why this level
- The agent edits files and runs commands; enabling automatic permissions can remove per-action confirmation.
Install
Manual install
curl -fsSL https://mimo.xiaomi.com/install | bashFirst Quick Start installer for macOS and Linux. Inspect the downloaded script before execution.
Access and checks
How we reviewBroad accessThe tool can change data, run commands or handle secrets.

What it does
MiMo Code investigates and edits projects from the terminal. Users choose a model provider and task, while the agent reads source files, uses tools and tracks progress. Plan mode supports read-only exploration; Build mode enables development tools. Project knowledge, checkpoints and task progress persist across sessions. MCP servers, bundled skills and subagents extend workflows. Permissions are configured separately from model choice, so review directory and command access before working.
Who it is for. Developers running long terminal tasks who need project memory and model choice in one coding agent.
Good fit when
- An agent needs to resume work with saved project context.
- A user wants Plan-mode exploration before editing code.
- Implementation should be split into subtasks with separate progress.
- Teams with a compatible API can configure their endpoint in the agent interface.
Not a fit when
- Source code must not reach the chosen model provider.
- The agent must not receive terminal tools or workspace access.
- You expect Claude settings import to transfer subscription access rather than an API key.
Example request
In Plan mode, investigate the failing test and propose a fix without changing files.Limitations
The selected model requires provider access; installing the CLI does not supply API capacity. Claude settings import reads the API key and API endpoint from configuration rather than subscription authorization. Access outside the project directory prompts by default, including the system temporary directory. When permission skipping is enabled, the agent runs commands automatically; use that mode only in trusted isolated environments.
How to disable. End the MiMo Code session and stop remaining jobs. Remove unused stored credentials and review project changes separately.
FAQ
What appears on first launch?
A provider and model-access setup wizard.
How do I switch from analysis to implementation?
Use `Tab` to switch between the primary Plan and Build modes.
What persists for the next session?
Project knowledge, checkpoints and task progress in MiMo Code’s local data.
Why does the agent ask to use a temporary folder?
It is outside the project and triggers external-directory permission.
Does Claude import work without an API key?
No. If no API key is found, the importer shows an error. It does not transfer a subscription session.
