Access and checks
How we reviewExtended accessThe tool runs code or makes network calls and only reads external data.

What it does
wallfacer puts the sessions of four CLI agents in one list: Claude Code, Cursor CLI, Kiro CLI and Codex. Claude Code stores conversations as untitled JSONL files under `~/.claude/projects/`, and the other agents hide theirs in their own folders. wallfacer reads these files without changing them and keeps names, tags and projects in its own local SQLite database. Bare `wallfacer` opens a full-screen session browser with filters by project, tag and agent. The same actions exist as subcommands: `new`, `resume`, `list`, `search`, `show`, `rename`, `tag`, `project` and `rm`. `list` takes `--json` for scripts, and `rm` moves a session to the trash while only `--purge` deletes it for good.
Who it is for. Users with dozens of untitled Claude Code or Codex sessions who need a way to find and continue the right one.
Good fit when
- Two weeks into terminal work you cannot find the conversation where auth tests were fixed.
- Sessions are resumed from different directories and you want one entry point instead of `cd` and manual search.
- A script lists a project's sessions as JSON.
- Claude Code and Codex run side by side and you want both histories in one list.
Not a fit when
- Sessions must sync between computers: the database is local.
- Work happens in an agent without an adapter: opencode is only on the roadmap.
- You need full-text search across entire conversations: wallfacer searches titles, first prompts, directories, projects and tags.
Example request
Show the sessions of project api tagged auth as JSON and open the one where we fixed flaky auth tests.Limitations
Four agents are supported: Claude Code, Cursor CLI, Kiro CLI and Codex, and the opencode adapter is still planned. Names, tags and projects live in the local wallfacer SQLite database and do not move to another computer. Installing through Go requires Go 1.22 or newer. The Homebrew formula lives in the repository itself, so the tap URL is spelled out. When output is not a terminal, bare `wallfacer` prints help instead of the browser.
How to disable. Remove the program the way you installed it, through Homebrew or Go. Delete the local database with names and tags separately. wallfacer never changes the agents' session files.
FAQ
Does wallfacer change the agents' session files?
No, indexing only reads them. Names, tags and projects are stored in its own SQLite database.
How do I resume a session by name?
Run `wallfacer resume "fix flaky auth tests"` or pass an ID prefix. The session opens in its original directory.
What happens when I delete a session?
`wallfacer rm <ref>` moves it to the trash. Only the `--purge` flag deletes it permanently.
How do I find the session I need?
In the browser press `/` for a fuzzy filter or run `wallfacer search auth`. Search covers titles, first prompts, directories, projects and tags.
Which agents does wallfacer support?
Claude Code, Cursor CLI, Kiro CLI and Codex. You pick the agent when starting a session and can filter the list by it later. The opencode adapter is still planned.

README in short
One binary with two front ends: a full-screen browser and subcommands for scripts. Both share one index, so a tag set in the browser shows up in `wallfacer list --tag` at once. Agents plug in as adapters, and `docs/adding-an-agent.md` explains how to add one.
