1C Syntax Checker
An MCP server for BSL syntax checks on BSL Language Server in Docker: send code, get back JSON errors and warnings with no Java install needed
Low risk
We rate an entry low when it mostly gives the agent instructions and reference material.
Why this level
- Only analyzes submitted code and returns diagnostics; it does not write to project files
Install
Manual install
./scripts/install.sh && ./scripts/start.shDownloads the BSL Language Server JAR and builds the Docker image, then starts the server on port 8010.
This is third-party code. Review the repository files before installing.
What it does
The server runs BSL Language Server 0.29.0 on Temurin 21 inside a Docker image and gives the agent three tools: syntaxcheck for a standalone code snippet, syntaxcheck_file for a single file with a path so naming rules apply correctly by module type, and syntaxcheck_project for several files at once with cross-module diagnostics. The min_severity parameter filters from HINT to ERROR, and the response includes per-level counters, a diagnostics list with the file, and a human-readable summary_text. Java is not needed on the agent's machine: all analysis runs inside the container.
Who it is for. For 1C developers in Cursor who need a quick BSL syntax check without installing Java or leaving the editor.
Good fit when
- You need to check agent-generated BSL code for errors before inserting it
- You need cross-module diagnostics across several files at once
- You do not want to install Java and BSL Language Server locally
Not a fit when
- Docker Desktop or Docker Engine is not available on the machine
- You need code navigation and refactoring, not just a syntax check
Example request
Check this module for WARNING-level issues and above, and show only the warningsLimitations
Needs Docker and about 2 GB for the image and the BSL Language Server JAR. The server version is pinned to bsl.version; updating requires rebuilding the image. A weekly GitHub Actions job only opens an issue about a new BSL LS release, there is no auto-update.
How to disable. Stop the container with stop.sh or stop.ps1 and remove the server from .cursor/mcp.json.

README in short
The README describes three MCP tools with a table of parameters and severity levels, install via install.ps1 or install.sh, a Python CLI with install, start, stop, set-port, mcp-snippet, test and update-bsl commands, port changes, and a weekly workflow that opens an issue when a new BSL Language Server version ships.
FAQ
Is Java needed on my machine?
No, Temurin 21 and BSL Language Server run only inside the Docker container.
How do you update the BSL Language Server version?
With python -m syntaxcheck_mcp.cli update-bsl, which syncs bsl.version and .env, then the image needs rebuilding.
