Broad access
Why this level
- The installer changes client configurations itself
- Running a script from someone else's domain executes someone else's code
- Reads and edits project files
Install
- Works in
In your terminal, with SkillFoxx CLI
npx skillfoxx add mcp/codedbDetects the agents on your machine, shows the access level and pins the version.

What it does
CodeDB gives agents a code understanding server: project tree, overview, symbols, search, reading, editing and dependencies. Installation on macOS and Linux: `curl -fsSL https://codedb.codegraff.com/install.sh | bash`. The script downloads a binary and registers codedb as an MCP server in Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor, Windsurf and other clients itself, that is it changes their configuration. There is also installation through npm: `npx -y codedeebee mcp` or `npm install -g codedeebee`. On Windows the published npm package codedeebee predates the Windows build, so see the README. Version 0.2.5860 from 27.09.2026, BSD-3-Clause license, Zig.
Who it is for. For developers who want to give an agent fast structured access to a codebase: symbols, dependencies and search instead of reading files in a row.
Good fit when
- You want the agent to see the project structure and dependencies
- You need fast code search and reading through MCP
- You need one server connected to several clients at once
Not a fit when
- You are not ready for the installer to change client configurations
- You cannot run a script from the internet from someone else's domain
Example request
Show the dependencies of the payment module and find all the places where the commission calculation function is calledMCP
- Transport
- stdio
- Authentication
- not required
Limitations
The install script registers codedb in the configuration of Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor, Windsurf and other clients itself, so it changes program settings. Running a script from someone else's domain executes someone else's code: read it before running. The server reads and edits project files, so access is wide. For Windows use the README instructions: the published codedeebee package predates the build.
How to disable. Remove the codedb entry from the client configurations the installer changed and delete the installed binary or the codedeebee npm package.
