Broad access
Why this level
- The agent changes the level, actors and Blueprints of an open Unreal project, and rollback depends on your version control
- The hosted version sends commands and project data to a third-party service's server with an API key
Install
- Works in
In your terminal, with SkillFoxx CLI
npx skillfoxx add mcp/flopperam-unreal-engine-mcpDetects the agents on your machine, shows the access level and pins the version.

What it does
The repository holds two different things. The first is a local open-source server in the Python/ folder with the UnrealMCP editor plugin. It is meant for basic work: scenes, actors, physics, materials and simple Blueprint operations, including add_node, connect_nodes, create_variable and create_function with 23 or more node types. It needs Python 3.12 or newer and runs on your machine. The second is the hosted Flop MCP at agent.flopperam.com/mcp. According to the project, it has more than 50 tools in nine areas: Blueprints, materials, VFX, animation, landscape, AI and behavior trees, cinematics, PCG and PIE tests. It is a separate server that shares no code with the local one. It needs an API key from flopperam.com and the FlopAI plugin installed in Unreal. The repository says Flopperam is now part of the company Aura and points to tryaura.dev for news.
Who it is for. For Unreal Engine game developers who need an Unreal Engine MCP to drive the scene and Blueprints from Cursor, Claude Code, Windsurf or VS Code.
Good fit when
- You want to place and change actors, physics and materials in an open Unreal level by description
- The agent should build a Blueprint graph: add nodes, connect them and create variables and functions
- You want to try the free local server first and move to the hosted one if needed
- You need Niagara, landscape, PCG or PIE tests: the hosted version claims them behind an API key
- You work in Cursor, Claude Code, Windsurf, VS Code Copilot or Cline
Not a fit when
- You need a fully open and free set with advanced features: the main tools are in the hosted service
- You need an explicit license: GitHub did not detect a license for the repository
- Project data must not go to an outside service: the hosted Flop MCP runs on Flopperam's server
- You need a project that has not changed hands: maintenance moved to Aura
Example request
Create five physics cubes in a row in the level, then add a Blueprint with a Health variable and a function that reduces it by 10.MCP

Limitations
The repository mixes a free local server and the Flopperam platform. The hosted version needs an account at flopperam.com, an API key and the separate FlopAI plugin. Pricing terms are not given in the repository. The local plugin is limited to a basic set, and detailed install steps live in LOCAL_SETUP.md, including a macOS build. GitHub detects no license. Use of the hosted version from Russia was not checked.
How to disable. Remove the flopperam-unreal entry from the client config, disable the plugin in Unreal Editor and revoke the API key in your flopperam.com account.
FAQ
How do I connect Flopperam Unreal Engine MCP to Claude Code?
For the hosted version get a key at flopperam.com/account, install the FlopAI plugin and run claude mcp add -H "Authorization: Bearer KEY" --transport http flopperam-unreal https://agent.flopperam.com/mcp.
How do the local and hosted Flop MCP differ?
The local server from the Python/ folder is free and simple: scenes, actors, basic Blueprints. The hosted one, per the project, has more than 50 tools, a separate FlopAI plugin and works with an API key.
Which Python does the local Unreal Engine MCP need?
Python 3.12 or newer. The UnrealMCP plugin is part of the repository, and install steps are collected in LOCAL_SETUP.md.
What happened to Flopperam?
The repository says Flopperam was acquired by the company Aura and news now comes out at tryaura.dev.
How does it differ from the other Unreal MCP entries in the catalog?
Here a free local server sits next to a link to a hosted service with a wider set. In the other catalog entries the whole set runs locally.
