Why this level
- The agent calls the public heyclau.de service over the network and sends it the query text
- Install commands from the registry are run by the agent, so look at third-party entries before installing them

Access and checks
How we reviewExtended accessThe tool runs code or makes network calls and only reads external data.

What it does
HeyClaude MCP gives an agent read-only access to the HeyClaude registry. The registry.recommend tool answers "what should I use for task X" in one call: it returns matching entries with the reason, a trust summary and a ready install block. Beyond that there is search by category and platform, comparison of two to five entries and a list of recent updates. The install tool family returns setup for Codex, Cursor, Windsurf and other clients, plus adapters for Cursor rules. The entry.trust and entry.safety tools gather source, package and privacy details for an entry. The server connects as a bridge through `npx -y @heyclaude/mcp` to the public endpoint https://heyclau.de/api/mcp. It writes nothing to disk, publishes nothing and manages no accounts.
Who it is for. For people who pick skills, MCP servers and hooks for Claude and other agents and want to query a registry right from the chat.
Good fit when
- The task is stated in words and you want a matching skill from the registry together with its install command
- You need to compare two to five tool options by platform, install complexity and source
- Before installing you want to see an entry's source and privacy details through entry.trust
- You need a ready MCP client setup for Cursor, Codex or Windsurf in the right format
- You want to follow new registry entries and ask what has been added since a given date
Not a fit when
- You need a malware check: entry.trust and entry.safety only judge disclosed metadata
- You want the server to install tools itself: it only returns commands, and the agent runs them
- You need offline access without reaching heyclau.de: local mode runs only from the project repository
Example request
Find a code review skill for Cursor in the HeyClaude registry and show the install commandMCP
- Transport
- stdio, http
- Authentication
- not required
Limitations
The server is read-only and depends on heyclau.de being available. The public endpoint is limited to 60 requests per minute per IP. Result quality depends on entry metadata: an entry with no source description gets a thin trust summary. Adapters exist only for Cursor rules for now, and for other platforms the server returns setup and install commands. The public registry shows entries from the project repository, and your own local data cannot be attached to it.
How to disable. Remove the heyclaude entry from the MCP client configuration. The server stores no data on your machine.
FAQ
How do I connect the HeyClaude registry to Claude Desktop or Cursor?
Add a heyclaude entry to mcpServers with the command npx and the arguments -y and @heyclaude/mcp. The install.setup tool returns the same setup for Codex and Windsurf.
How is registry.recommend different from plain search?
registry.search finds entries by query, category and platform. registry.recommend takes a task in plain words and returns the best matches with the reason, a trust summary, safety notes and an install block, and marks a top pick with a consolidated install plan.
Can I use it to add my own entry to the registry?
Not directly. The server does not create issues or pull requests. The submission.* tools validate a draft, look for duplicates and build a link to the submit form, but they are disabled in bridge mode and work only in local mode on repository data.
Does entry.safety guarantee an entry is safe?
No. The tool compares disclosed source, package, safety and privacy details. It does not scan for malware, and a high score does not mean the entry is safe.
Does HeyClaude MCP need an API key, and are there limits?
No key is needed. The public endpoint is limited to 60 requests per minute per IP, and the request body is capped at 64 KiB.

README in short
The repository holds the HeyClaude registry itself with agents, MCP servers, skills, hooks and commands. The MCP server lives in packages/mcp and ships to npm as @heyclaude/mcp, and its docs cover bridge mode and a local development mode.
