Medium risk

We rate an entry medium when the tool runs code, makes network calls or reads project files. Check what exactly it does before installing.

Why this level

  • Creates, updates and deletes cards, comments and time logs in the workspace
  • The token grants access to the whole Kaiten space tied to the account

Install

In your terminal, with SkillFoxx CLI

npx skillfoxx add mcp/iamtemazhe-mcp-kaiten

Detects the agents on your machine, checks the risk and pins the version.

Other ways to install

Run in a terminal

claude mcp add --transport stdio --env 'KAITEN_API_TOKEN=<your KAITEN_API_TOKEN>' --env 'KAITEN_URL=<KAITEN_URL value>' mcp-kaiten -- npx -y mcp-kaiten

Or add to the file .mcp.json, in the project

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "mcp-kaiten": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "mcp-kaiten"
      ],

        "KAITEN_URL": "<KAITEN_URL value>"
      }
    }
  }
}

If the file already exists, add the server inside the mcpServers key.

You will need: Node.js

Checked against the repository on Sep 25, 2026, commit 392eb44.

Text for your agent

Add the MCP server with npx -y mcp-kaiten and the KAITEN_API_TOKEN and KAITEN_URL variables from your Kaiten profile settings (Profile -> API Key).

Snippet from the README. Works the same way in Claude Desktop.

This is third-party code. Review the repository files before installing.

What it does

The server wraps the Kaiten REST API in MCP tools: cards (fetch, search, create, update, delete), comments, time logs, spaces and boards, subtasks, tags and checklists. It runs with npx -y mcp-kaiten without installation, with the token and space URL passed as environment variables. Documentation is duplicated in Russian and Chinese under docs.

Who it is for. For teams that track work in Kaiten and want an agent to read and change cards without opening the UI.

Good fit when

  • You want to connect Kaiten to Cursor or Claude Desktop with one command
  • You need time logs and checklists, not just cards
  • Russian-language docs matter to you

Not a fit when

  • You need a mature npm release with semantic versioning and a stable API
  • You work with large numbers of cards and need explicit default pagination limits

Example request

Find overdue cards on the Kaiten board Sprint 12 and show who is responsible for each

Limitations

The repository has no stars or description and was recently active. Tools that create and delete cards, comments and time logs change data in the Kaiten workspace without an extra server-side confirmation.

How to disable. Remove the mcp-kaiten block from your MCP client configuration.

Security check

  • Creates, updates and deletes cards, comments and time logs in the workspace
  • The token grants access to the whole Kaiten space tied to the account

README in short

The README gives a quick start on getting an API token in the Kaiten profile and configuring an MCP client, then lists tools in tables by group: cards, comments, time logs, spaces and boards, subtasks, tags, checklists, users. Docs are translated into Russian and Chinese, with a separate file explaining why the project exists.

FAQ

Do I need to install it first?

No, npx -y mcp-kaiten downloads and runs the package on the spot.
