Access and checks
How we reviewExtended accessThe tool runs code or makes network calls and only reads external data.
- Inkscape has to be installed
- Writes files to disk
This is third-party code. Review the repository files before installing.
What it does
Inkscape MCP lets an agent control Inkscape without the interface: create, edit, layer, animate and export SVG. The server runs over stdio and HTTP and there is an `.mcpb` package for Claude Desktop. Manual installation: cloning the repository, `uv sync`, `just serve`, other methods are in INSTALL.md. Inkscape has to be installed. Version 2.7.0 from 28.09.2026, MIT license.
Who it is for. For designers and developers who need to automate vector graphics work: icons, logos, animated SVG.
Good fit when
- You need to create and edit SVG through an agent
- You need to export vector graphics into different formats
- You need SVG animation and work with layers
Not a fit when
- Inkscape is not installed
- You need manual visual editing: the server controls the program without the interface
Example request
Draw a set of three icons in one style through Inkscape MCP and export to SVG and PNGMCP
- Transport
- stdio, http
- Authentication
- not required
Limitations
Inkscape has to be installed. The server launches the program and writes SVG and export files to your disk, so access is extended: specify a working folder. Check the number of operations from the author's description against the documentation.
How to disable. Remove the skill from the agent's folder or the plugin through the plugin manager.
