What it does

The server connects the Linear issue tracker to an agent through the Linear API. The agent creates and updates issues with title, description, priority and status, searches the tracker with filters by team, status, assignee and labels, fetches a user's issues and adds comments. Through resources it can view a single issue, a team's issues, a user's assigned issues and organization context. It installs via npx with a Linear API key in an environment variable.

Who it is for. For project managers, product managers and developers who run their work in Linear.

Good fit when

You want to create or update a Linear issue from a chat with the agent
You need to find issues by team, status or assignee
You want to add a comment or gather a summary of issues

Not a fit when

You need a maintained option; the author recommends the official Linear server
You have no Linear API key or workspace permissions
You do not want to give an agent write access to the team tracker

Limitations

The author marked the project as deprecated and no longer maintains it, recommending the official remote Linear server at mcp.linear.app. You need a Linear API key set in LINEAR_API_KEY, which grants workspace access. The server changes tracker data, so its scope equals the key's permissions.

How to disable. Remove the linear entry from your MCP client config and revoke the Linear API key in your workspace settings.
