Broad access
Why this level
- Runs arbitrary code in a running application
- The agent gets wide access to the application and its data
- Suitable for a development environment only
Install
- Works in
Manual install
Connect Tidewave to the Phoenix application per the README and add the MCP server to the client. Development environment only. Show the code to the owner before running it in the application.

What it does
Tidewave Phoenix gives an agent runtime-level tools for developing Phoenix apps. The agent talks to your running application in development: it runs code in its context like an IEx session for agents, reads live logs and uses other capabilities listed in the README. This is a package of the Tidewave project (the tidewave-ai organization) and not from the Phoenix vendor. The project is in Elixir, Apache-2.0 license.
Who it is for. For Elixir and Phoenix developers who want the agent to see the live state of the application and not only the sources.
Good fit when
- You want the agent to check code on a live development application
- You need the application's live logs in the agent session
- You need an IEx analogue for an agent
Not a fit when
- You cannot run it in production: the server runs arbitrary code in a running application
- You do not use Phoenix
Example request
Check in the running application why the orders table query is slow and show the execution planMCP
- Transport
- stdio
- Authentication
- not required
Limitations
The server runs arbitrary code in a running application, so connect it only to a development environment and never to a production server. The agent gets wide access to the application and its data. The package is developed by the Tidewave team. The repository was last updated on 23.09.2026.
How to disable. Remove the tidewave dependency from the project and the MCP server entry from the client config.
