Broad access
Why this level
- Network rule changes or device restarts can interrupt users’ connectivity.
- The server can access client and device information for selected UniFi sites.
Install
- Works in
In your terminal, with SkillFoxx CLI
npx skillfoxx add mcp/unifi-mcp-serverDetects the agents on your machine, shows the access level and pins the version.

What it does
UniFi MCP server connects an MCP client to UniFi Network, Protect and cloud APIs. Agents can inspect clients, devices and network health. The interface also covers Wi-Fi configuration, firewall rules and backup operations. Mutations require a confirmation parameter and support previews. Profiles and a read-only mode can restrict available tools. An optional fleet setup manages multiple controllers through a shared registry and access roles.
Who it is for. For administrators of their own UniFi infrastructure who want diagnostics through an MCP client.
Good fit when
- Investigate a client losing connectivity
- Review Wi-Fi settings and channels
- Compare health across multiple controllers
- Prepare a network change with a preview
Not a fit when
- You use another vendor’s hardware
- You lack permission to administer the network
- You need a tool without a key or controller access
Example request
In read-only mode, inspect UniFi network health and explain possible causes of this client’s disconnects.MCP
- Transport
- stdio, http, sse
- Authentication
- API key
Environment variables
UNIFI_API_KEYrequired, secret- UniFi API key for the selected sites.
UNIFI_LOCAL_HOST- Controller address in local mode.
Limitations
Python 3.11 or newer and a UniFi API key with access to the selected sites are required. The `cloud-ea` and `cloud-v1` modes do not configure individual devices; controller configuration needs `local` mode. Some operations depend on controller firmware, and zone-based firewall tools require UniFi Network 9.0 or later. Network transports require a separate MCP token, so configure authentication before connecting a remote client.
How to disable. Remove the server from the MCP client and revoke its UniFi API key when no longer needed.
FAQ
Is there a read-only mode?
Yes. Set `UNIFI_READ_ONLY=true` to remove mutating tools.
How do confirmation and preview work?
A call needs `confirm=True`; `dry_run=True` previews it. These are tool parameters; human approval must be arranged in the MCP client.
Is this an official Ubiquiti server?
No. It is a community server by enuno using UniFi APIs.
What does multi-controller mode require?
The optional fleet mode uses Postgres and Redis and is installed separately.
Why are operational prompts missing?
A tools-only client may not expose them. Prompts require the MCP prompt operations.
