VibeUE
An MCP expansion and editor toolset for Unreal Engine 5.8+: an agent drives the editor across landscape, materials, animation, Niagara and UMG
Medium risk
We rate an entry medium when the tool runs code, makes network calls or reads project files. Check what exactly it does before installing.
Why this level
- Drives the Unreal editor and changes project assets
- The real-world terrain tools reach the network
Install
Manual install
git clone https://github.com/kevinpbuckley/VibeUE.gitThe plugin installs into an Unreal project. First enable the native Unreal MCP and Editor Tools and start the MCP server per Epic's guide.
This is third-party code. Review the repository files before installing.
What it does
VibeUE expands the built-in MCP server and AI toolsets of Unreal Engine 5.8+ and adds a deep set of editor capabilities on top. It covers domains the engine does not by default: landscape and world, auto-materials, foliage, map blockout, real-world terrain from GPS, MetaSound audio, animation assets, Niagara, UMG, behavior trees, gameplay tags, input, UVs and profiling. Capabilities register into the engine's native ToolsetRegistry and MCP server, and domain skills are served through Unreal's AgentSkill system. Any MCP-capable agent drives the editor through the standard MCP endpoint, with no separate server or in-editor chat.
Who it is for. For Unreal Engine game developers who want to drive the editor through an AI agent.
Good fit when
- You need to drive the Unreal editor through an agent in domains the engine lacks
- You need landscape, materials, animation and Niagara work from an agent
- You need real-world terrain from GPS and map blockout
Not a fit when
- Unreal's native MCP and the Editor Tools plugins are not set up
- You are not on Unreal Engine 5.8 or later
Example request
Sculpt a landscape from this heightmap, apply an auto-material and scatter foliage in the Unreal editorLimitations
You must first set up Unreal's native MCP: enable the Unreal MCP and Editor Tools plugins and start the MCP server per Epic's guide. VibeUE only expands that endpoint, with no server or chat of its own. The real-world terrain tools need a free API key, while everything else works without one. Unreal Engine 5.8 or later is required.
How to disable. Disable or remove the VibeUE plugin in the Unreal project; the native Unreal MCP can stay or be turned off separately.

README in short
The README presents VibeUE as an MCP expansion and editor toolset for Unreal Engine 5.8+. Unreal 5.8 added a built-in MCP server and AI toolsets, and VibeUE plugs into them and adds domains the engine lacks: landscape and world, auto-materials, foliage, real-world terrain from GPS, MetaSound, animation assets, Niagara, UMG, behavior trees and profiling. Capabilities register into the engine's ToolsetRegistry and MCP server, and domain skills go through AgentSkill. It requires setting up Unreal's native MCP first, and the real-world terrain needs a free key.
FAQ
Does VibeUE need a separate server?
No. VibeUE registers into Unreal's native MCP server, with no separate server or in-editor chat.
Is an API key needed?
Only for the real-world terrain tools, which need a free key. Everything else works without one.
