Plugin

Broad access

Why this level

  • Reads credentials: the Claude Code token from the macOS Keychain (from .credentials.json on Linux and Windows), the sign-in files ~/.codex/auth.json and ~/.gemini/oauth_creds.json and the Antigravity token. The plugin uses them only to ask the providers' own APIs for remaining limits, and the tokens do not go to third parties
  • The SessionStart hook checks and corrects the statusLine entry in Claude Code settings at every session start
  • The setup-alias command appends a check-ai alias to the shell settings

What it does

claude-dashboard replaces the Claude Code status line with a configurable dashboard. In compact mode one line shows the model, context fill, session cost and the 5-hour and 7-day limits with a reset countdown. Normal mode adds the project and git branch, session ID and duration, token burn rate and todo progress. The six-line detailed mode also shows an estimated time to the limit, running tools and subagents, cache hits, a token breakdown, an hourly cost forecast and a daily budget. The dashboard tracks more than Claude usage. If Codex, Gemini CLI or Antigravity CLI is installed, or work goes through z.ai, the plugin detects them itself and shows the remaining quotas. The `/claude-dashboard:check-usage` command gathers the limits of all these CLIs on one screen and suggests which has the most free quota, and the `--json` flag returns data for scripts. Any widget can be turned off, and the line order is set by a short code like `MC$R|BDO` or by a list of widgets. There are nine themes, four separators and two languages, English and Korean. The `dailyBudget` setting warns at 80% and 95% of the daily budget. Besides the status line the plugin ships as a Claude Code mod: `/claude-dashboard-pane` opens a pane beside the conversation and `/claude-dashboard-band` draws the dashboard above the prompt.

Who it is for. For people who use Claude Code on a plan with limits and want to see the remaining context, quotas and spending without extra commands, and for users of several agents at once.

Good fit when

  • You want to see context fill and the 5-hour and 7-day limit headroom in Claude Code without leaving the session
  • You work with Claude Code, Codex and Gemini CLI at once and want to know where free quota remains, which `/claude-dashboard:check-usage` shows
  • You need spending control: session cost, tokens per minute, an hourly cost forecast and a daily budget with warnings
  • You want to know how long until the limit: the depletionTime widget gives an approximate time to exhaustion
  • You want the panel in a separate area beside the conversation or above the prompt, using the pane and band mod commands

Not a fit when

  • You need reports over weeks and months: the plugin shows the current session and today's spending
  • You do not work in Claude Code: the plugin needs Claude Code 1.0.80 or newer and Node.js 18+
  • The plugin must not touch the tokens of other CLIs: it reads the sign-in files of Codex, Gemini and Antigravity
  • You need a Russian interface: English and Korean are supported

Example request

Run /claude-dashboard:check-usage and tell me which of the connected CLIs has the most free quota right now

Limitations

It needs Claude Code 1.0.80 or newer and Node.js 18+. Limits come from the API with the Claude Code OAuth token. If the token is expired, a warning icon appears next to the limits, and signing in to Claude Code again fixes it. API responses are cached in ~/.cache/claude-dashboard/, and the cache is cleaned automatically after an hour.

The estimated time to the limit is approximate: the calculation assumes all usage came from the current session and gets more accurate as you work. On macOS the token comes from the Keychain, which holds one entry for all accounts, so with several accounts through `CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR` the limit requests use whichever token the Keychain holds.

The pane and band mods are early access, tested on Claude Code 2.1.289, and are drawn only in the terminal and the desktop Code tab, not in the VS Code panel or in `claude -p` mode. A manual clone install does not pick up new versions automatically: after each release run `git pull` and fix the path in settings.

How to disable. Remove the plugin with the /plugin commands and delete the statusLine entry from settings.json if it remains. The cache lives in ~/.cache/claude-dashboard/ and is removed with `rm -rf ~/.cache/claude-dashboard/`. The settings file ~/.claude/claude-dashboard.local.json can be deleted by hand.

FAQ

How do I install claude-dashboard in Claude Code?

Run three commands: `/plugin marketplace add uppinote20/claude-dashboard`, `/plugin install claude-dashboard` and `/claude-dashboard:setup`. You can also install by hand, cloning the repository into the plugins folder. Then statusLine.command must point to dist/index.js in the clone.

Which display modes does claude-dashboard have?

Three ready modes. Compact takes one line: model, context, cost and the 5h and 7d limits. Normal in two lines adds the project, session, token burn and todos. Detailed in six lines also shows the depletion forecast, cache, token breakdown, budget and the usage of other CLIs. You choose a mode with a command, for example `/claude-dashboard:setup normal en pro`.

How do I show Codex and Gemini usage next to Claude?

No separate setup is needed: the codexUsage, geminiUsage and antigravityUsage widgets hide themselves when the sign-in files are missing and appear once they are found. The plugin looks for ~/.codex/auth.json, ~/.gemini/oauth_creds.json and the Antigravity token file. `/claude-dashboard:check-usage` gives a summary across all CLIs.

How do I configure widgets and the theme?

Run `/claude-dashboard:setup` without arguments for a dialog, or edit ~/.claude/claude-dashboard.local.json: it holds the mode, lines, theme (default, minimal, catppuccin, dracula, gruvbox, nord, tokyoNight and others), separator, daily budget and the disabledWidgets list. You can build your own lines with the `custom` mode, listing widgets separated by commas and a vertical bar.

What if the limits show a warning icon?

The author names three causes: an expired token, no network or an API rate limit. Sign in to Claude Code again, check the connection and wait for the cache to refresh. If the status line is not visible at all, check `/plugin list` and the statusLine entry in settings.json, then restart Claude Code.

README in short

The README starts with a one-line description and a demo, then covers installation through the plugin store or by cloning and three display modes with screenshots. A large table describes the widgets by group, from core and rate limits to analytics, multi-CLI quotas and version info. It then shows settings with presets, themes and separators, the plugin's four commands, the pane and band mods, a troubleshooting section on multiple accounts and cache, and a short development block.
