What it does
show-your-work displays images and video inside Claude Code’s terminal interface. The agent can show screenshots, mockups or diagrams and place alternatives side by side. History lets you revisit an earlier image and compare it with a new one. For interface checks, the plugin guides the agent to record a Playwright scenario before and after a change. The player shows recordings side by side with pause and seeking. Timestamps connect moments to agent annotations, but a recording does not prove every bug is fixed: choose the scenario and checks separately. Open settings with `/show-your-work` or the introduction with `/show-your-work tour`. `/img` helps locate clipboard images. Ghostty and kitty on macOS and Linux are supported; video playback also requires ffmpeg.
Who it is for. For developers and designers who work with Claude Code in the terminal and want to see results and test recordings without opening a browser.
Good fit when
- You ask Claude to build a page and want to see four hero directions side by side instead of opening files one by one
- You want to compare interface behavior before and after a fix using recordings of the same scenario
- You build an ad or animation and each version should play in the chat with timestamps
- You want to walk through a new sign-up form and watch the Playwright recording without running tests by hand
- You want to browse the version history of an image or a video and compare any two side by side
Not a fit when
- You use another terminal or Windows: the supported path is limited to Ghostty and kitty on macOS and Linux
- You use another agent: the plugin is built for Claude Code
- Your Claude Code version is below 2.1.286: update it first
- You only work with text and code: the visual layer adds file copies to the project and temporary files
Example request
Fix the billing toggle and show me before and after so I can see which checks now passLimitations
Documentation requires Claude Code 2.1.286 or later. Warp, WezTerm and Konsole are unsupported in the current version; the older advice to enable pictures with a button no longer applies. Other agents and Windows are not claimed.
Displayed files are copied to the project’s .show-your-work directory, and temporary frames older than a week are removed. Material may contain application data and reach the model. The plugin checks GitHub daily and updates automatically; disable this with SHOW_YOUR_WORK_AUTO_UPDATE=0. When usage data is enabled, PostHog receives counts and environment details such as versions and terminal type.
How to disable. Run `/plugin` and disable or remove show-your-work. Delete the project’s `.show-your-work/` directory if you no longer need its media copies. Check the shell profile for a line left by an older version and remove it if present; the current version already cleans it up.
FAQ
How do I install show-your-work in Claude Code?
Run /plugin marketplace add https://github.com/iamumeransari/claude-show-your-work.git#releases, then /plugin install show-your-work@iamumeransari. A short onboarding opens after installation, and settings are available through /show-your-work.
Can Claude Code show images in the terminal?
The supported path is Ghostty or kitty on macOS and Linux. Another terminal’s support for the kitty graphics protocol alone is insufficient because compatibility also depends on Claude Code’s output.
Can I watch video in the Claude Code terminal?
Yes, the plugin plays screen recordings, animations and ads right in the chat. The player has pause, scrubbing, timestamps and side-by-side version comparison. Video needs ffmpeg.
How do I check that Claude fixed a bug?
Define a concrete scenario, ask for recordings on the original and changed versions, and inspect the difference. Green markers reflect checks selected by the agent; omitted conditions remain untested.
What does the plugin store and where does it connect?
It keeps copies of shown files in the project's `.show-your-work/` directory and temporary frames in `$TMPDIR`. Once a day it reads the version number from raw.githubusercontent.com. It sends statistics to us.i.posthog.com only with your consent in the settings.

README in short
The plugin uses MIT. Graphics passthrough is supported in tmux inside supported terminals; configuration applies to the plugin pane and new panes without rewriting the shared tmux configuration file.
