What it does
The feiskyer/codex-settings repository is a working configuration for Codex CLI with a skills folder of twelve skills. It installs as a Codex plugin: the repository is added as a marketplace with codex plugin marketplace add, and codex plugin add then enables the skills. The plugin takes only the skills and leaves your config.toml, profiles and MCP settings alone. The skills cover everyday jobs. deep-research runs parallel child sessions and assembles a report. github-fix-issue and github-review-pr work through issues and pull requests: their instructions do not authorize publishing, sending or approving by default. code-simplifier simplifies recently changed code without changing behavior, handoff writes a document for the next agent, grill-me questions a plan point by point while keeping a glossary and ADRs, and brainstorming turns a vague idea into a design. For media there are gpt-image-skill (OpenAI Image API), nanobanana-skill (Gemini models) and minimax-image-skill (MiniMax). youtube-transcribe-skill pulls subtitles through yt-dlp, and claude-skill hands a task to the Claude Code CLI. Plugin installation is limited to the skills directory and does not apply root-level model configuration.
Who it is for. For Codex CLI users who want workflows for research, reviews, image preparation and context handoff between sessions.
Good fit when
- You want Codex to do deep research on a topic with parallel subtasks and a final report
- You need to work through an issue or pull request: investigate the cause, check for defects, fix locally with verification
- You need an image through the OpenAI Image API, Gemini or MiniMax right from the session
- A session ended and another agent will continue: you need a handoff document through handoff
- You want to examine a plan point by point and record terms and decisions with the `grill-me` skill
Not a fit when
- You work in Claude Code: the author keeps a separate repository, claude-code-settings, for it
- You need just one narrow feature: the plugin installs all twelve skills at once
- You need a complete environment without extra tools or keys: individual skills require Python, gh, yt-dlp, Claude CLI or API access

$github-review-pr Review PR 456 and report the results to me, do not post comments to GitHubLimitations
Version 1.5.0 installs only the skills. The repository’s root `config.toml`, profiles, MCP and provider settings are not applied. They belong to a separate installation route and are unnecessary for the workflow described here. Your current Codex permissions remain in effect.
Image skills need Python and OpenAI, Gemini or MiniMax credentials; transcription requires `yt-dlp`, and GitHub workflows require `gh`. Delegating to Claude needs the installed and authenticated official Claude CLI. It launches another agent and passes it the task and available context. External service terms and billing are separate from the collection’s MIT license.
How to disable. Remove the plugin with `codex plugin remove codex-settings@codex-settings`. If the marketplace is no longer needed, run `codex plugin marketplace remove codex-settings` and start a new session.
FAQ
How do I install feiskyer's skills in Codex CLI?
Run codex plugin marketplace add feiskyer/codex-settings and codex plugin add codex-settings@codex-settings, then start a new session. The plugin connects only the skills and leaves config.toml unchanged.
How do I update the plugin?
With codex plugin marketplace upgrade codex-settings and codex plugin add codex-settings@codex-settings. A clone of the repository has scripts/update-codex-plugins.sh with a --dry-run mode.
Does the plugin change model profiles or MCP settings?
No. Its manifest loads the skills directory without applying the repository’s root configuration. The installation described here does not require copying configuration files into `~/.codex`.
Which skills trigger only when named?
gpt-image-skill fires when OpenAI or GPT Image is named, and minimax-image-skill fires on a MiniMax mention. For other images nanobanana-skill is the default.
Which keys do the image skills need?
gpt-image-skill needs OPENAI_API_KEY, nanobanana-skill needs GEMINI_API_KEY and minimax-image-skill needs MINIMAX_API_KEY. All three need Python, and the author advises a separate virtual environment for dependencies. Keep keys in environment variables, outside the repository.
