What it does
recomby-geo is a plugin that runs a client GEO project, meaning the work on how AI models mention and cite a company. There are seven stages. In Claude Code you start them with /01-intake, /02-audit, /03-gap, /04-content-brief, /05-production, /06-distribution and /07-reaudit. In Codex the entry point is the geo-pipeline skill, which picks the right stage from a natural-language request. Each client gets its own clients/<slug>/ folder, and files of different clients never mix. The stages run in order: intake, visibility audit, gap to competitors, content brief, production, distribution and a re-audit that feeds the next round. The output of each stage is checked against JSON schemas (Draft 2020-12) before the next begins. A business expert fills in the brief and the AI does not: the 05-production stage refuses to run until the brief has the ready-for-production status. The plugin holds eight skills: seo-geo-optimizer with 13 Python scripts, content-writer, content-quality-auditor, internal-linking-optimizer, keyword-research, meta-tags-optimizer, frontend-design and the original geo-review-html, which renders HTML pages for approving briefs and drafts with the client. Most of them come from open source projects under MIT and Apache 2.0, with authors and licenses listed in THIRD_PARTY_LICENSES.md. The project is alpha and needs no API keys by default.
Who it is for. For SEO specialists, agencies and site owners who run GEO projects for clients and want a process with the expert's mandatory involvement.
Good fit when
- A new client wants to be mentioned more in ChatGPT and other AI answers, and you need a repeatable order of work from intake to a re-audit
- You need a page audit for citability with a content quality and internal link review
- A brief for an article must be approved with the client in a convenient HTML page instead of correspondence
- A month after publishing you need a re-audit whose results feed the next competitor gap analysis
Not a fit when
- You need one quick SEO audit of a site: separate audit skills fit better than seven stages with briefs
- Nobody can fill in the brief: the process stops at production, and the rules forbid the AI filling a brief
- You want to keep client data in the repository: the author advises keeping the clients folder out of version control
- There is no Python 3: the skill scripts do not run without it
Example request
/02-audit clients/acmeLimitations
- The project is alpha, version 0.4.3 by its manifest.
- The scripts need python3, and schema checks need the jsonschema package (pip install jsonschema). The default process needs no external API keys.
- Stages must not run out of order, and a human has to fill in the brief or the production stage refuses.
- In Claude Code the stages are commands, in Codex the geo-pipeline skill runs them: two manifests in the repository share one logic.
- Most skills come from open source projects, and their license terms are in THIRD_PARTY_LICENSES.md.
How to disable. In Claude Code run /plugin uninstall recomby-geo and, if you like, /plugin marketplace remove ViryaZheng/recomby-geo. In Codex remove the plugin and the marketplace with the codex plugin commands. The clients/<slug>/ folders with client data stay in your project.
FAQ
How do I install recomby-geo in Claude Code?
In a session run /plugin marketplace add ViryaZheng/recomby-geo, then /plugin install recomby-geo. Seven commands from /01-intake to /07-reaudit become available.
How do I work with the plugin in Codex?
Add the marketplace with codex plugin marketplace add ViryaZheng/recomby-geo. Then ask in natural language, for example "run GEO intake for clients/acme": the geo-pipeline skill reads the right stage file and runs the schema check.
Why does the production stage refuse to run?
A business expert has to fill in the brief and its status must be ready-for-production. The plugin never fills brief fields automatically, which is the basis of the process with a human involved.
What does GEO mean?
GEO is work on how AI models find, mention and cite a company in their answers. In the plugin this means a visibility audit, a gap to competitors, content from a brief and a re-audit.
Do I need API keys?
No, the base process needs no external keys. You need python3 and the jsonschema package for schema checks.

README in short
The README presents the project as an open source AI-employee solution for GEO: an agent, office command-line tools and skills working alongside a business expert. The core value is the catalog of GEO skills and seven workflow commands. The agents.md and clis.md pages describe the surroundings, and INSTALL.md covers installation for Claude Code and Codex. It stresses local mode: the agent can work with local models and client data stays on the machine.
