What it does
The plugin connects an agent to RetailCRM over MCP and adds the `use-retailcrm` skill. The server runs remotely at https://mcp.rcrm-tech.ru/mcp and exposes four tools: `GqlSearchOperations` finds GraphQL API operations, `GqlDescribeOperations` and `GqlDescribeTypes` return the schema, and `GqlExecuteOperation` runs a query or mutation. The skill sets the order of work. The agent finds the right operation, requests its contract, builds a minimal GraphQL document, validates it against the retrieved schema and only then executes it. Mutations run after a separate explicit confirmation from the user. The skill forbids direct HTTP calls that bypass MCP and methods guessed from memory. Beneath the skill sit reference notes on lists, mutations, repeated queries and schema type resolution. The scope is wide: orders, customers, deliveries, payments, products, inventory, users, chats, messages, quick replies, bots and channels.
Who it is for. Owners and managers of online shops on RetailCRM who want an agent to pull order, customer and stock data and edit records without clicking through the interface.
Good fit when
- You need an export of orders for a period filtered by status and delivery method, and writing API calls by hand takes too long
- A manager asks to find a customer by phone and show their latest orders with payments
- You want to bulk-edit a field in product records, with the agent showing what it will change first
- You need to learn which operations and fields the RetailCRM GraphQL API offers and build a valid query
- You have to find dialogs with a bot or quick replies in chats and read their content
Not a fit when
- Your shop runs on another CRM: the server talks to RetailCRM only
- You need unattended order processing on a schedule: mutations require confirmation in a conversation with the agent
- A token cannot be issued or its permissions cannot be restricted: the agent would get more access than it needs
- You need work inside the RetailCRM interface or embedded module development: separate tools such as `@retailcrm/embed-ui` cover that
Example request
Find last week's orders with the status "awaiting payment" and show the customers with phone numbers, without changing anything.Limitations
A personal RetailCRM token is required: create it on the profile page under access tokens in your system and grant only the permissions the planned operations need. The token is shown once. The agent reads it from the `RETAILCRM_TOKEN` environment variable, so set it before starting the client.
The server is remote and requests go over the network. Without internet the plugin does not work. If MCP answers 401 or 403, the skill stops and asks for access to be configured outside the conversation. Installing the plugin itself needs no OAuth sign-in.
In standalone MCP mode without the plugin the skill with the rules is not installed, and you would have to describe the safe order of work to the agent yourself.
How to disable. Remove the plugin with the client tools: `codex plugin remove` in Codex or the plugin manager in Claude Code. A separately connected server is removed with `claude mcp remove retailcrm_mcp`. Revoke the token on the RetailCRM access tokens page as well.
FAQ
How do I install the RetailCRM plugin in Claude Code?
Add the marketplace with `claude plugin marketplace add https://github.com/retailcrm/mcp-plugin.git` and run `claude plugin install retailcrm@retailcrm-plugin`. After installing, open a new session, provide the token through `RETAILCRM_TOKEN` and check the server with `/mcp`.
Where do I get a token for RetailCRM MCP?
Create it on the `/profile/access-tokens/new` page of your RetailCRM system. Set a name, optionally an expiry and only the permissions you need. The value can be copied once, so store it in an environment variable right away.
Can the agent change data without my approval?
No, by the skill's rules a mutation runs only after a separate explicit confirmation. The limit works at the level of agent instructions, so the token permissions set the real boundary: grant read-only access if no changes are needed.
Does the plugin work in Codex?
Yes, the repository installs in both Codex and Claude Code. In Codex add the marketplace with `codex plugin marketplace add https://github.com/retailcrm/mcp-plugin.git` and install `codex plugin add retailcrm@retailcrm`.
Can I connect MCP without the skill?
Yes. The `claude mcp add --transport http retailcrm_mcp https://mcp.rcrm-tech.ru/mcp` command with an Authorization header connects the server. The tools become available, but the query-building and validation rules from the skill are not installed.
