Broad access
Why this level
- `install.sh` clones the repository and creates links in ~/.claude and ~/.agents, and the one-line install runs a script from the network
- The library has skills that change server settings (SSH, firewall) and clean disks, and `push-all` commits and pushes all changes
- Some skills use external CLIs, accounts and credentials, for example for publishing content
Install
- Works in
Manual install
npx skills add majiayu000/spellbook --skill frontend-design --skill app-ui-design --skill ui-design-system --skill figma-to-reactAn example bundle for interfaces. Other bundles are listed in the project description, and `--list` prints the catalog.

What it does
Spellbook is a library of 110 skills and seven Claude Code agents that installs into both Claude Code and Codex. The sources live in one tree and the installer lays them out in the folders of the chosen agent. Skills are grouped by task: agent reliability (`flowguard`, `review-gate`, `skill-audit`), projects in TypeScript, Python, Rust, Go and Zig, product work from discovery to PRDs and analytics, APIs and databases, delivery with TDD and commits, UI and design, machine and network diagnostics, deployment, content and social media. You can install everything or a bundle for a job. The command `npx skills add majiayu000/spellbook --skill name` puts the chosen skills into the agents you tick in the wizard, and `--list` shows the catalog. The `install.sh` script clones the repository into ~/.spellbook and creates links to it in ~/.claude/skills and ~/.claude/agents for Claude Code and in ~/.agents/skills for Codex. The `--target` and `--skills` flags pick the agent and the skill list. The seven Claude Code agents are a multi-step task orchestrator, a legacy code explorer, a Bun and Node.js backend architect, a senior reviewer, a Kubernetes specialist, a security auditor and a helper for contributing to other people's projects. The repository also works as a Claude Code plugin marketplace with two plugins, `idea-coach` and `rust-dev`.
Who it is for. For developers and founders working in Claude Code or Codex who want one source of skills for different jobs, from code review and project guidance to server diagnostics and product preparation.
Good fit when
- You work in both Claude Code and Codex and want the same skills in both
- You need a ready starter bundle for a job: interfaces, code quality, releases, product or agent workflows
- A Rust, Go, Python, TypeScript or Zig project needs structure templates and coding rules
- It is easier to take ready Claude Code agents for review, security audit or Kubernetes than to write your own
- You search the registry for a skill by tags and description language with the search command
Not a fit when
- You need one or two specific skills: install only those with `--skill`, since the whole library adds a list of descriptions to the context
- You need subagents in Codex: the installer puts only skills there and skips the agents for Codex
- The machine has no `git`, Python 3 or the PyYAML module: `install.sh` stops at the prerequisite check
- You need descriptions in English only: the registry tells description languages apart, and some skills are described in Chinese
Example request
Audit this repository's codebase, rank the findings by severity and draft a repair roadmapLimitations
- The project used to be called Claude Arsenal. Old Codex installs lived in ~/.codex/skills while the current path is ~/.agents/skills, so such installs must be redone.
- The one-line installer, `curl -fsSL ... | bash`, takes its script from the main branch. To inspect it first, clone the repository and run `./install.sh` locally.
- Some skills need external CLIs, accounts and credentials that the installer does not set up. The validator `scripts/validate_skills.py --check` checks skill structure, not whole workflows.
- Claude Code does not look for skills in .agents/skills. If your repository keeps them there, you need a symlink. The author tested it on macOS in Claude Code 2.1.234 but without a signed-in account, and did not test skill loading on Windows.
- The seven agents work only in Claude Code.
- MIT license.
How to disable. Delete the folders and links you need from ~/.claude/skills, ~/.claude/agents and ~/.agents/skills. For a full removal, delete the links and the ~/.spellbook directory. Skills added through `npx skills add` are removed with `npx skills remove`. Plugins are removed with `/plugin uninstall idea-coach` and `/plugin uninstall rust-dev`.
FAQ
How does `npx skills add` differ from `install.sh`?
`npx skills add` lets you pick agents in a wizard and installs only the listed skills. `install.sh` is for explicit Claude Code and Codex paths and for installing the Claude Code agents along with skills; `--target` takes claude, codex or all.
How do I check the install worked?
In Claude Code type `/` and look for the skills in the list. Codex must be restarted to reload ~/.agents/skills. If the skills live in a project's .agents/skills, add a link for Claude Code with `ln -s ../.agents/skills .claude/skills`.
How do I find a skill in the registry?
With `python3 scripts/validate_skills.py search rust testing`: words are combined with AND across name, description, category and tags. Filters include `--tag` and `--language zh`, output can be `--json`, and the tag index lives in registry/tags.json.
What do the idea-coach and rust-dev plugins do?
`idea-coach` takes you from an idea to a PRD and a clickable HTML prototype and runs a multi-role chat, with the commands `/idea-coach:idea` and `/idea-coach:idea-team`. `rust-dev` bundles Rust practices, code review, performance and async code. The plugin skills are copies of catalog skills.
Which agents are in the set?
Seven files in the agents folder: `tech-lead-orchestrator`, `code-archaeologist`, `backend-typescript-architect`, `senior-code-reviewer`, `kubernetes-specialist`, `security-auditor` and `opensource-contributor`. The `install.sh` script puts them in ~/.claude/agents.

README in short
The description opens with a quick start of four skill bundles, then tables of target runtimes, five ready bundles for jobs and sections by category: agent workflows, architecture, product, API, practices, delivery, cross-tool use, design, tooling, operations, content. It continues with the lists of agents and plugins, the principles behind the skills, a release status note and a list of the author's other projects, including a skill registry and a dependency scanner. The repository also holds documents on skill format, quality and testing.
