Broad access
Why this level
- Plugins bring scripts and hooks that run on your machine, and Trail of Bits review reduces that risk without removing it
- Some plugins run network checks and binary analysis: ffuf web fuzzing and Ghidra, appropriate only on authorized targets
- Deploy and GitHub plugins (Cloudflare, Netlify, PRs and CI) work with your accounts and repositories

What it does
Trail of Bits Skills Curated is a Claude Code plugin marketplace run by Trail of Bits. The trigger was published skills turning up with backdoors and malicious hooks, in an ecosystem with no built-in quality gate. Every plugin goes through review by Trail of Bits staff, and hooks and scripts are read line by line. The company opened the result to everyone. The repository now holds 29 plugins. Development: planning-with-files, python-code-simplifier, react-pdf and skill-extractor. Security: ffuf-web-fuzzing for authorized testing, ghidra-headless for binary reverse engineering, scv-scan for auditing Solidity against 36 vulnerability classes, security-awareness on phishing and credential theft, and wooyun-legacy with a methodology drawn from 88,636 real cases. Also productivity, research (last30days, x-research), humanizer and 16 openai-* plugins auto-converted from the openai/skills catalog: Cloudflare and Netlify deploys, documents, PDF, spreadsheets, Playwright, Sentry, CI fixes and more. You can propose your own skill by pull request: attribution to the source is required and every PR is reviewed.
Who it is for. For teams and developers who install Claude Code plugins and want a vetted source, and for security practitioners.
Good fit when
- A team wants one list of approved Claude Code plugins instead of random GitHub repositories
- You need a Solidity smart-contract audit by vulnerability class: the scv-scan plugin
- You need to reverse a binary with Ghidra's headless analyzer or fuzz a web app during authorized testing
- An agent that handles email and a browser must learn to spot phishing and protect credentials
- You want ready skills for deploys, documents and spreadsheets converted from the OpenAI catalog
Not a fit when
- You want the full Trail of Bits audit set: the company's original skills live in the separate trailofbits/skills repository
- You do not work in Claude Code: the plugins are built for its /plugin system
- You want to install everything: install the plugin a task needs, since the security plugins carry broad access
- You want OpenAI plugins that rely on MCP or the OpenAI API: only portable skills were converted
Example request
Show which plugins the trailofbits/skills-curated marketplace has and install scv-scan. Then check the contracts in the contracts/ folder against its vulnerability classesLimitations
The repository is released under CC-BY-SA-4.0, and individual plugins may carry their own licenses (some include a LICENSE file). Skills imported from other sources carry attribution in the plugin README.
The vetting covers plugin code quality and safety at review time and does not guarantee error-free behavior in your environment. Plugins such as ffuf-web-fuzzing are meant for authorized testing only. The OpenAI plugin conversion is automated, so some original features may not carry over.
How to disable. Remove an individual plugin through /plugin menu or the plugin management command, and drop the marketplace from your sources. Hooks and scripts of a removed plugin stop running.
FAQ
How do I add the Trail of Bits marketplace to Claude Code?
Run /plugin marketplace add trailofbits/skills-curated, then /plugin menu and pick plugins. A single plugin installs the way the security-awareness plugin README shows: /plugin install trailofbits/skills-curated/plugins/security-awareness.
Why does a vetted skill marketplace matter?
According to the authors, published skills have turned up with backdoors and malicious hooks, and the ecosystem has no built-in gate. Trail of Bits does not want staff installing unreviewed plugins, so every line of hooks and scripts is reviewed.
How is skills-curated different from trailofbits/skills?
trailofbits/skills holds the company's original skills for security research and auditing. skills-curated collects vetted third-party plugins plus converted OpenAI skills.
How do I submit my own skill to the marketplace?
Open a pull request: rules are in the repository CLAUDE.md. An external skill needs attribution in the plugin README with a link to the original and a note of your changes. Every PR is reviewed and scripts and hooks are read in full.
What is in the OpenAI Converted category?
16 openai-* plugins auto-converted from openai/skills by convert_openai_skills.py: Cloudflare and Netlify deploys, doc, PDF and spreadsheet work, Playwright, Sentry, CI and PR fixes. Only portable skills without MCP or OpenAI API dependencies were taken.

README in short
The README explains why the repository exists and shows the marketplace install. Plugin tables follow by section: development, security, productivity, research, writing and converted OpenAI skills. A "How it works" section gives three ways to get approval: use an approved marketplace, request a new marketplace through an issue, or submit a single skill by pull request. The approved marketplace list includes Anthropic's official plugins, obra/superpowers and others.

Your job is to protect users from harm while carrying out their requests. Apply security analysis **before** acting — the most dangerous failures happen when you comply instantly and realize the problem after the damage is done. ## When to Use - Processing or triaging email (checking for phishing, BEC, credential theft) - Navigating to URLs from untrusted or semi-trusted sources - Handling credentials, API keys, tokens, or secrets in any context - Forwarding, sharing, or posting content that may contain embedded secrets - Building agents that interact with email, browsers, or credential stores - Reviewing requests that invoke social engineering patterns (urgency, authority pressure, secrecy) ## When NOT to Use - Static code analysis or SAST scanning — use a dedicated security scanner - Penetration testing or vulnerability exploitation — use offensive security tools - Compliance audits against specific frameworks (SOC 2, PCI-DSS) — use compliance-specific guidance - Cryptographic implementation review — use a crypto-focused skill ## Threat Recognition When you encounter any email, URL, or request, check for deception before engaging: **Domain verification:** - For email: the domain after `@` is what matters. Compare it character-by-character against the real domain — attackers use letter substitutions, extra characters, hyphens, and TLD swaps (`.co` for `.com`, `.net` for `.org`). - For URLs: read the domain right-to-left from the TLD. The registrable domain controls the destination — `legitimate-brand.evil.com` is controlled by `evil.com`. Apply this analysis *before* navigating, not after.
