Why this level
- The skill reads local images and videos and writes results to disk, and a wrong output path can overwrite an original
- Without an installed `gwr` the wrapper downloads a package from npm with `pnpm dlx` and runs it
Install
- Works in
In your terminal, with SkillFoxx CLI
npx skillfoxx add skills/gemini-watermark-removerDetects the agents on your machine, shows the access level and pins the version.

What it does
Gemini Watermark Remover strips the visible, semi-transparent Gemini logo from the bottom-right corner of images and videos made in Gemini. Instead of repainting the area with a neural network it subtracts the mark using reverse alpha blending; the engine finds the mark's size and position from a catalog of known Gemini output sizes plus a local anchor search. Processing runs on your machine or in the browser, and files are not uploaded. For agents the repository ships a skill that wraps the CLI. `node scripts/run.mjs remove <file> --output <result>` handles one file and `--out-dir <folder>` a whole folder. Before running, the agent picks an output path and tells you where files will land, and afterwards it names the files it wrote. If `gwr` is not on PATH, the wrapper falls back to `pnpm dlx @pilio/gemini-watermark-remover`. The same engine is available without an agent: an online version, a Chrome extension, a userscript for Tampermonkey and the `gwr` CLI with `--overwrite` and `--json` flags. For video the CLI defaults to a 12 Mbps AVC profile, which `--video-bitrate-mbps` can raise.
Who it is for. For people who work with images and clips generated in Gemini and want to clean batches of files from the command line or hand that job to an agent.
Good fit when
- A folder holds a dozen Gemini images and the agent should save cleaned copies to a neighboring folder with `--out-dir`
- You need reproducible processing in a script or CI: the `gwr` CLI with `--json` returns machine-readable results
- A Gemini clip has to be cleaned at a higher bitrate, which `--video-bitrate-mbps` allows
- Processing has to stay local, with no files uploaded to someone else's server
Not a fit when
- The mark does not look like Gemini's visible logo: the authors point to a general-purpose service for other watermarks and admit this tool will not remove them
- You want to open an image from a link: the skill accepts local files only and URLs are out of scope
- You need a one-off cleanup of a single file: the online version or the extension is simpler, as the authors recommend
- Originals must not be lost: the tool modifies images, and without `--output` or `--out-dir` an original is easy to overwrite, so make a copy first
Example request
Remove the Gemini watermark from every image in ./gemini-pics and save the results to ./clean without touching the originalsLimitations
The tool targets Gemini's visible watermark in a known format. If the mark does not match the size catalog, the result is not guaranteed. The author also warns that the tool modifies files, that unusual formats or a non-standard mark can give unexpected results, and that they accept no responsibility for damaged data.
The skill is a thin wrapper over the `gwr` CLI and has no removal logic of its own. It works only with local files. For reading and writing files the CLI uses `sharp`, which you install separately in your own project with `pnpm add sharp`. Running it needs Node.js and pnpm.
Anti-fingerprinting browser extensions such as Canvas Fingerprint Defender interfere with in-browser processing, and the author advises turning them off. The extension and the userscript work only on Gemini pages, and the author lists the userscript's limits: no per-image buttons and no bulk actions.
How to disable. Delete the `gemini-watermark-remover` skill folder from the agent's skills directory. If you installed the CLI globally, remove the package with your package manager. The Chrome extension and the userscript are turned off in their own managers. Cleaned files already written stay on disk.
FAQ
How do I install the Gemini Watermark Remover skill in Claude Code?
Run `pnpm dlx skills add GargantuaX/gemini-watermark-remover --skill gemini-watermark-remover`. Add `--agent`, `--yes` or `--copy` only if your setup needs them. Afterwards the agent runs `node scripts/run.mjs remove <file> --output <result>`.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Processing runs locally, in the browser or on your machine, and this is the tool's headline property. The skill works with local files and does not accept links.
How is reverse alpha blending different from AI inpainting?
The engine subtracts the known semi-transparent logo mathematically, and no neural network paints new pixels. That makes results reproducible on supported images, but it works only when the mark matches a known Gemini format.
Is video supported?
Yes. The CLI processes video and encodes it with a 12 Mbps AVC profile by default. For quality-sensitive sources, set a higher target with `--video-bitrate-mbps`, for example 20. `--video-timeout-ms` is an inactivity timeout: an export may run longer while frames keep advancing.
What if the watermark did not come off?
The tool is built for Gemini's visible logo. For other marks the authors point to a general-purpose watermark remover, and for a quick one-off result they recommend the online version on their site.

README in short
The description opens with the ways to use it: an online version, in-browser video, a Chrome extension, a userscript, the skill and the CLI. Regular users are pointed to the website, and the skill is presented as an option for agent workflows. Examples, a use-at-your-own-risk warning, install and development commands follow, and an SDK section closes the file. When a mark is not recognized, the text sends you to a general-purpose service on the authors' site.
