Why this level
- The MCP token opens McDonald's account data, including coupons, points and order history, although the skill only reads it.
- The skill calls a third-party service over the network, so the token must stay out of public chats and repositories.

What it does
mcd-agent-gourmet is a skill and a standard-library Python package for comparing complete McDonald's China orders. The agent breaks a phrase like '35 yuan, not spicy, regular cola, no ice, takeaway' into conditions, picks a restaurant together with the user and reads the menu through the official McDonald's MCP. The price of each set of a main, a side and a drink comes from the `calculate-price` tool, while the menu price stays a reference: if it requires buying a card, the skill shows both the condition and the calculated amount. The output is one answer and an order card with the restaurant, the pickup method and exact item names. If no set fits, the skill says so and names the minimum budget, and it explains the other options by who lost and on which axis. Conditions like 'not spicy' or 'with sugar' are never changed by the agent. The skill only reads data: it does not place orders, claim coupons, redeem points or pay. A GitHub Pages demo shows the logic on historical snapshots without a token.
Who it is for. People ordering from McDonald's China who want the agent to compare set prices, coupons and taste preferences before the app is opened.
Good fit when
- The budget is 35 yuan, spicy food is excluded, and regular cola without ice is wanted for takeaway.
- Two people eat together, and prices are compared per person rather than by the total of the whole order.
- It is unclear whether a combo costs less than the same items bought separately: the skill shows the difference in yuan.
- A previous order should be repeated at current prices: the skill takes only the restaurant and the items from the history and recalculates.
- A developer studies a sample read-only MCP client with deterministic comparison of options.
Not a fit when
- The order must be placed or paid: the skill places nothing, so order in the app or at the restaurant.
- You are outside China: the menu and the MCP belong to McDonald's China.
- Prices are needed in Meituan, Ele.me and other third-party delivery services: the McDonald's MCP has no data on them.
- Gram weights and portion size matter: there is no data source, so the skill cannot say whether a portion shrank.
Example request
35 yuan, not spicy, regular cola, no ice, takeaway. I am in Nanjing, show the restaurants first and let me choose.Limitations
The skill works only with McDonald's China and needs a personal MCP token from the open.mcd.cn platform, issued by phone number. The official MCP has no full coupon terms, no live card balances and no gram weights. Orders from third-party delivery services are not visible. Pricing for delivery and drive-through is wired in, but real price checks passed only for pickup. The full dialog in the WorkBuddy client for the new version still awaits acceptance, as the project documentation notes.
How to disable. Delete the skill folder from the agent skills directory, disconnect the McDonald's MCP connector and remove `MCD_MCP_TOKEN` from the environment. The token can be revoked on the open.mcd.cn platform.
FAQ
How do I get a token for the McDonald's MCP?
Sign in with a phone number at open.mcd.cn/mcp/login and request a personal MCP token. Put it in `MCD_MCP_TOKEN` on your own machine and keep it out of Git.
Can the skill order and pay?
No. It only reads the menu and calculates prices, claims no coupons and places no order. The chosen set is ordered in the app or at the restaurant.
Can I try it without a token?
Yes. The project page on GitHub Pages runs on historical snapshots without signing in, and `python3 demo.py` reads `fixtures/snapshot.json` offline.
Why does the menu price differ from the final one?
Some menu items are sold at a price that requires buying a card together with the order. The skill takes the amount from `calculate-price` and shows the condition beside it.
What happens if no order fits?
The skill says so and shows a budget ladder: how much to add for options to appear. It does not change the drink, the restaurant or the taste conditions itself.

README in short
The documentation opens with an example: the same meal costs 48.50 yuan item by item and 36.50 yuan as a combo. Three principles follow: price only from the calculation, user conditions stay untouched, portions are counted per person. It ends by listing what the MCP does not return and gives two ways to run it: through a client and from the command line.
