What it does
MotionSites Web Builder teaches Claude to build landing pages with a cinematic look. The authors see three reasons AI-built pages look alike: a vague plan, no real media and nobody looking at the result. The skill addresses all three. Inside are 40 example prompts from MotionSites; Claude reads the two or three closest to your brief to match their level of detail. A media shelf holds 50+ hero videos, 30 transparent 3D cut-outs and 29 images, publicly hosted and shown on numbered contact sheets so Claude chooses by eye. The skill also carries 55+ technique recipes with working code: seamless video loops, liquid glass, word-by-word blur headlines, mouse-scrubbed video and Three.js 3D. Taste rules use numbers: type scale, tracking, spacing, color and motion timing. It works in three moves: Claude writes a detailed build spec from a template, builds the page and takes screenshots with a QA script (broken assets, mobile overflow, fonts, video playback), then scores itself against a rubric and fixes problems. In prompt mode the skill returns ready text for Lovable, Bolt, v0, Cursor, Manus, Google AI Studio or Kimi.
Who it is for. For frontend developers and designers who want an expressive landing page from Claude with video and 3D.
Good fit when
- You want a hero section with a video background and strong typography for a product or portfolio
- You ask Claude to redo an existing site so it stands out and want screenshot-based checks
- You need a prompt for Lovable, Bolt, v0 or Cursor tuned to that specific tool
- You need an effect such as liquid glass, word-by-word blur headlines or mouse-scrubbed video
Not a fit when
- You need a strict corporate page with no video or animation: the skill is tuned for expressive landing pages
- Your traffic comes from slow mobile networks and a page with video and 3D will be heavy
- You want an app with a backend or account area: the skill builds pages only
Example request
Build a landing hero for a luxury sleep-tracking ring: cinematic, with a video background, and check the result with screenshotsLimitations
- The examples and media in the skill are a free sample. The full library (500+ prompts, the MotionSites MCP) comes with the paid MotionSites Unlimited subscription.
- Videos, 3D cut-outs and images sit on external hosting, so the page depends on their availability.
- The repository license shows as NOASSERTION: the skill's code and instructions are MIT, while example prompts and media remain MotionSites property and may be used in sites you build with the skill.
- The screenshot check loop works best with Playwright and Chromium. Running in Claude.ai needs code execution enabled.
How to disable. In Claude Code run `/plugin uninstall motionsites-web-builder@motionsites` or delete `~/.claude/skills/motionsites-web-builder`. In Claude.ai turn the skill off under Customize, Skills.
FAQ
How do I install MotionSites Web Builder in Claude Code?
Run `/plugin marketplace add Motionsites-AI/claude-skill` and `/plugin install motionsites-web-builder@motionsites`. By hand, copy `plugins/motionsites-web-builder/skills/motionsites-web-builder` into `~/.claude/skills/`.
Can I use the skill in Claude.ai and Claude Desktop?
Yes. Download `motionsites-web-builder.zip` from the latest release, open Customize, Skills, Create skill and upload the archive. Code execution must be enabled in settings.
Is Playwright required?
No, but the screenshot check loop works better with it: `pip install playwright && python -m playwright install chromium`.
What is in the free part?
40 example prompts, a media shelf of videos, 3D cut-outs and images, 55+ technique recipes, taste rules, a spec template and the QA script. The full library is paid.
Can I get a prompt instead of a finished site?
Yes. In prompt mode the skill writes text for Lovable, Bolt, v0, Cursor, Manus, Google AI Studio or Kimi.

--- name: motionsites-web-builder description: Build award-level, cinematic websites, landing pages and hero sections, or detailed prompts for Lovable, Bolt and v0, using top MotionSites designs, real media and a screenshot-and-fix loop. --- # MotionSites Web Builder Average AI websites happen for three reasons: a vague plan, no real media, and nobody looking at the result. This skill fixes all three. Follow the workflow every time; the steps are what make the output great. ## Workflow ### 1. Read the brief and decide (don't interrogate) Settle these five things, briefly, in your head or in one short message: - **What and who:** the product or person, and the visitor you are persuading. - **Mood in three words** (e.g. "calm, expensive, nocturnal"). - **The signature:** the one memorable idea this page will be known for (media, interaction or type moment). Pick from `references/techniques.md` or invent one. - **Output:** a single `index.html` (default: CDN only, opens anywhere), the user's existing stack (React/Next/Vite...), or a **prompt only** for another builder (see `references/builders.md`). - **Scope:** a hero (default when unspecified), or a full landing page. Only ask a question if you can't proceed without it (e.g. the brand name for a real company). Otherwise choose and say what you chose. ### 2. Study the closest examples Open `examples/INDEX.md`. These are the most-liked free prompts on motionsites.ai, real designs people love. Pick the **2–3 closest** to the brief (by category, traits and feel) and read them in full. They set the bar for: - **Precision:** exact fonts, hex/HSL tokens, px and clamp() sizes, letter-spacing, durations and easings, z-index layers, breakpoints. - **Restraint:** what they leave out. - **Structure:** how a hero is layered and choreographed. Borrow structure, precision and techniques. Never copy their brand names, copy text or exact layouts wholesale; the page must be original to this brief. ### 3. Get the media Great pages are carried by great media. In order of preference (details in `references/assets.md`): 1. The user's own assets. 2. Generate them, if you have an image/video/3D generation tool available (prompt formulas are in `assets.md`). 3. **The media shelf:** `media/MEDIA.md` plus the numbered contact sheets `media/sheet-*.jpg`. Look at the sheets, pick by eye, and use the exact URL. These cinematic videos and transparent cut-outs come from free MotionSites prompts and are publicly hosted. 4. No media: design a type-, gradient- and motion-led page (no fake image boxes). Never invent asset URLs. Skip any media showing recognisable characters, celebrities, logos or brands. ### 4. Write the spec Write the build spec using `references/spec-template.md`, at the same level of detail as the examples you read. This is where quality is decided. Every element gets real values: no "nice gradient" or "smooth animation". Include the real copy: headline, subline, nav, CTA, stats. Write it like a sharp brand copywriter. Keep headlines short and specific, with a point of view. If the user asked for a **prompt only**, the spec is the deliverable: format it for their builder (see `references/builders.md`) and you're done after a self-check against `references/review.md`. ### 5. Build Build exactly what the spec says, using recipes from `references/techniques.md` (they are tested and handle mobile and reduced motion). - **Single-file default:** one `index.html` with inline `<style>` and `<script>`, Google Fonts, and libraries from a CDN with pinned versions (e.g. `three@0.170.0`, `gsap@3.12.5`). - The first CSS rule sets the page background on `html, body`, so there's no white flash. - Semantic HTML, a real `<title>`, alt text, visible focus states, and `prefers-reduced-motion` respected.
