How we review

Minimal accessThe tool runs nothing and makes no network calls.

  • The skill generates firmware code; wrong pins or power can damage the board, so recheck the wiring.

This is third-party code. Review the repository files before installing.

What it does

The `mspm0g-contest` skill helps write firmware for a two-chip system: a TI MSPM0G3507 microcontroller and a K230 computer vision module. Its references hold a pin map with IOMUX, driver templates for GPIO, PWM, ADC, UART, I2C and encoders, PID and Kalman filtering, flashing and debugging. Before writing code the skill asks for the actual pins, excludes reserved ones and relies on a list of APIs missing from SDK 2.10.00.04. The repository also holds firmware projects, a Python PID tool and walkthroughs of contest tasks 25E, 24H and 23E.

Who it is for. Students and engineers building a controlled platform on MSPM0G3507 and K230 for electronics contests who write firmware with an agent.

Good fit when

  • You need an OLED, MPU6050 or PWM driver generated for your own wiring.
  • Board pins must be assigned without touching reserved ones.
  • Wheels and turns are tuned with a PID controller and parameters adjusted over Bluetooth.
  • A K230 camera finds colored objects and sends coordinates over UART.

Not a fit when

  • The board is different: pins and APIs target MSPM0G3507 and SDK 2.10.00.04.
  • You need RTOS firmware: all examples are bare metal.
  • You want obstacle avoidance or SLAM, which the project does not include.

Example request

/mspm0g-contest build a pin table for two TB6612 motors, encoders and an OLED, and ask for my wiring first.

Limitations

The README and skill are written in Chinese, and an English version is marked as coming. CCS Theia, MSPM0 SDK 2.10.00.04, SysConfig and an XDS110 debugger are required. The code was verified on the author's setup, so pins must be confirmed for a different wiring. Heed the electrical warnings: the K230 ADC tolerates only 1.8 V and servos need separate power. The last commit dates from July 2026. Some references cover specific modules: TB6612, MPU6050, SSD1306 and JDY-31.

How to disable. Delete the `.claude/skills/mspm0g-contest/` folder from the project. The repository clone and TI tools are removed separately.

FAQ

How do I call the skill?

Open the repository folder in Claude Code and enter `/mspm0g-contest <task>`, for example `/mspm0g-contest PID parameters`.

Does it fit another board?

No. Pins, SDK and the API list target MSPM0G3507 with SDK 2.10.00.04, so the references need rework for another setup.

What does the skill do before generating code?

It asks which pins are actually wired and does not paste pin numbers from templates. Reserved pins such as PA19 and PA20 are excluded.

Are contest task walkthroughs included?

Yes. The `contest.md` reference holds solutions for 25E, 24H and 23E.

What must be installed?

CCS Theia, MSPM0 SDK 2.10.00.04, SysConfig 1.20 or newer and the XDS110 debugger driver. The camera side also needs CanMV.

README in short

The repository combines a Claude Code skill, C firmware for MSPM0G3507, K230 MicroPython code and a PID tool. The README's shortest path is to load the skill and generate drivers for your wiring.
