What it does
Spec Kitty is a CLI for spec-driven development: a chain of steps spec, plan, tasks, next, review, accept and merge leads a task from description to merge. Installation: `pipx install spec-kitty-cli` or `python -m pip install spec-kitty-cli`. The latest release v4.0.0rc5 from 02.10.2026 is marked as a release candidate, so version 4 is not stable yet. MIT license.
Who it is for. For teams that work by specifications and want to lead tasks from description to merge as one process with an agent.
Good fit when
- You need spec-driven development with an agent
- You need a chain of steps from plan to merge
- You need a CLI for reviewing and accepting tasks
Not a fit when
- You need a stable version 4: it is a release candidate for now
- You cannot merge changes automatically
Example request
Describe the report export feature by a spec, make a plan and tasks and show the steps until mergeLimitations
Version 4 is still a release candidate (v4.0.0rc5) and behavior may change. The accept and merge steps change the repository, so access is extended: work in a separate branch and review changes before merging.
How to disable. Remove the skill from the agent's folder or the plugin through the plugin manager.
