What it does
capcut-cli creates and edits real CapCut and JianYing projects from the terminal or through an AI agent. It works directly on the local draft store: it reads and writes JSON with no cloud upload, API, MCP server or daemon. The result opens in CapCut with every track still editable. It can add and style subtitles, change timing, speed and volume, apply templates and cut long video into shorts. Some commands need external tools: Whisper for captions, FFmpeg for render, ffprobe for metadata and an Anthropic key for translation.

The tool is unofficial and not affiliated with ByteDance. It needs Node.js 18 or later, and some commands need Whisper, FFmpeg, ffprobe or an Anthropic key for translation. Early versions up to 0.17.x had vulnerabilities and unsafe handling, now fixed, and the README advises installing the latest version. Encrypted JianYing 6.0+ drafts cannot always be seeded.
How to disable. Uninstall the package: npm uninstall -g capcut-cli, or remove the plugin or skill from the agent config.
