What it does
Easy JianYing turns an editing plan into a draft that opens in JianYing Pro or CapCut as an ordinary project. The agent writes the plan in JSON: time in seconds, transition and font names in Chinese as in the editor interface. The `jyr build plan.json --out /tmp/demo --publish` command builds tracks, transitions, keyframes, speed changes, picture-in-picture, text, subtitles and music with fades, then places the project on the editor home page. Export stays with you. Five skills split the work: `jyr-draft` builds a draft, `jyr-roughcut` cuts pauses, filler words and slips out of a five-minute recording, `jyr-subtitles` makes subtitles with local speech recognition, `jyr-beats` cuts clips to the beats of the music and `jyr-batch` produces a series of drafts from a table. By default only free resources are used, and with the `--member` flag the agent may name paid ones. For CapCut add `--app capcut`: the same plan yields a CapCut draft. The program only writes draft files and never touches the editor interface.
Who it is for. Video editors and short-form creators on a Mac who want an agent to rough out the edit and then finish the video by hand in JianYing or CapCut.
Good fit when
- A five-minute camera recording needs its pauses, fillers and repeats removed before further cutting.
- An agent has drafted a video plan, and subtitle and shot-length fixes are made in the editor without regenerating.
- A video series on one template is produced from a table: one template and a row per video yield N drafts.
- Clips must be cut to the rhythm of the music with native beat markers left on the track.
- The same build is released in two versions: for JianYing and for CapCut.
Not a fit when
- You are on Windows or Apple Silicon: testing ran on an Intel Mac and Windows was not tried at all.
- The video is sold to a client or goes into a paid service: the PolyForm Noncommercial license forbids commercial use without the author's permission.
- You need cropping, background removal, color grading or speed curves: the tool does not have them yet.
- A draft is already saved in JianYing and must be read by a script: `jyr` does not read such projects.

It works on macOS: JianYing Pro 11.7.0 and CapCut 9.4.1 were tested on an Intel Mac. Python 3.10 or newer and ffmpeg are required, and JianYing must be closed before a draft is published. Projects that JianYing has already resaved are not read by `jyr`, so edits go into the plan or straight into the editor. Subtitles from speech recognition contain errors. The PolyForm Noncommercial 1.0.0 license allows non-commercial use only. The project is unofficial and has no connection to ByteDance.
How to disable. Delete the `jyr-*` skill folders from the agent skills directory and run `pip uninstall` for the `jyr` package. Drafts already created remain in JianYing or CapCut and are removed in the editor itself.

How do I install Easy JianYing?
Run `git clone https://github.com/YeJe-cpu/easy-jianying && cd easy-jianying`, then `pip install -e '.[asr,fonts]'`. If you only need draft building, `pip install -e .` is enough. `jyr doctor` performs the check.
How do I connect the skills to Claude Code or Codex?
Put the folders from `skills/` (`jyr-draft`, `jyr-roughcut`, `jyr-subtitles`, `jyr-beats`, `jyr-batch`) into the agent skills directory. After that, tell the agent to rough-cut a recording and place it in JianYing.
How do I make a draft for CapCut?
Add the `--app capcut` flag to the same commands, for example `jyr --app capcut build examples/capcut.plan.json --out /tmp/cc-demo --publish`. If only one editor is installed, the flag is optional.
Which resources does the tool use by default?
Only free transitions, effects, fonts and stickers. Paid resources are enabled with the `--member` flag if you have a JianYing subscription; the membership check stays on the editor side.
How do I rough-cut a camera recording?
Run `jyr roughcut raw.mp4 --plan rc.plan.json` to get a list of sentences and automatic removals. The agent then reads the list and picks repeats and slips, and you rerun the command with `--edits` and `--publish`.
