How we review

Extended accessThe tool runs code or makes network calls and only reads external data.

  • Global rules change agent behavior in every project, including commit format.

This is third-party code. Review the repository files before installing.

What it does

The `claude-ground` package installs a set of rules and slash commands into Claude Code. Common rules from `rules/common/` apply in every session: phase tracking and a decision log, plan approval, honest pushback, debugging order, handling existing code, tests and Git. Language rules (Go, Swift, TypeScript, Kotlin, Flutter, Rust, Python, .NET, Spring) load when the agent opens matching files. Separate `cg-*` commands cover recurring tasks: a development plan, code review, security hardening, VPS deployment, observability, a macOS app release and an app store listing. The `claudeground init` command creates `CLAUDE.md`, `DECISIONS.md` and a first-phase template in a project.

Who it is for. Indie developers working in Claude Code who are tired of the agent losing the plan, quietly simplifying the task and agreeing with everything.

Good fit when

  • A long implementation loses its thread after a context reset and needs phase files.
  • The agent repeated a failed attempt twice and the brute-forcing has to stop.
  • A code review should list findings first and explanations second.
  • A single-VPS service needs deployment with Caddy or nginx, TLS and rollback.
  • A new project starts with `CLAUDE.md` and a decision log.

Not a fit when

  • Only your own rules are wanted, since the set imposes its own workflow.
  • Work happens in another agent: rules and commands target Claude Code.
  • Global rules would clash with a team's own commit style.

Example request

Install the Go and TypeScript rules, then create `CLAUDE.md` and the first development phase in this project.

Limitations

Rules and slash commands install globally, into `~/.claude/rules/` and `~/.claude/commands/`, so they affect every project and session. The set is opinionated: the Git rules call for short messages without agent attribution trailers, and the MUST, SHOULD and RECOMMENDED levels mark how binding each rule is. The repository states no license, and the last commit is from September 2026. Rules are written in English. After a new package version, `claudeground update` re-applies them.

How to disable. Delete the files the package placed in `~/.claude/rules/` and `~/.claude/commands/` by hand, then run `npm uninstall -g claude-ground`. Saved choices live in `~/.claude/.claude-ground.json`.

FAQ

Where does the package put files?

Rules go to `~/.claude/rules/`, commands to `~/.claude/commands/`, and the `CLAUDE.md`, `DECISIONS.md` and `phases/` templates are created in the current directory by `claudeground init`.

Do language rules apply to every file?

No. Language rules and `frontend.md` carry `paths:` frontmatter, so Claude Code loads `go.md` only when it reads `*.go` files, and likewise for other languages.

How do I update after a new version?

Run `npm update -g claude-ground` and then `claudeground update`, which re-applies your saved language and command choices.

Is Node.js required?

Yes, version 16 or newer. The package has no dependencies beyond built-in Node.js modules.

Which `cg-*` commands exist?

Eight: `cg-devplan`, `cg-senior-code-review`, `cg-security-hardening`, `cg-indie-deploy`, `cg-indie-observability`, `cg-oss-git-hygiene`, `cg-mac-release` and `cg-store-listing`.
