What it does
Claude Usage builds a local dashboard from Claude Code logs: how many tokens went, which models and sessions, on which projects. For Pro and Max subscribers it shows the full picture instead of a single spending gauge. Installation on macOS and Linux through Homebrew: `brew tap phuryn/claude-usage https://github.com/phuryn/claude-usage` and `brew install phuryn/claude-usage/claude-usage`, with no pip and no build. The command can also be installed through `pipx install git+https://github.com/phuryn/claude-usage`. Version 1.5.5 from 10.07.2026, MIT license.
Who it is for. For Claude Pro and Max subscribers who want to see where the limit goes: by models, sessions and projects.
Good fit when
- You need to understand which projects and sessions eat the subscription limit
- You need a token dashboard with no cloud and accounts
- You need a simple way to install tracking through Homebrew
Not a fit when
- You need tracking for several different agents: the utility is about Claude Code
- You are not ready for a utility to read local logs
Example request
Show which projects spent the most tokens this month and which model was used the mostLimitations
The utility reads Claude Code's local logs, so it has access to usage data but changes nothing in projects. The latest release v1.5.5 came out on 10.07.2026. It works with Claude Code, and other agents need other tools.
How to disable. Remove the command (brew uninstall claude-usage or pipx uninstall claude-usage). The Claude Code logs stay in place.
