What it does
Token Monitor shows token spending, cost and limits for 43 or more coding tools on one live panel, and counts provider limits for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenRouter and others. The approach is local-first: data comes from local usage logs. The app runs on Windows 10 and newer and macOS 12 and newer and detects WSL usage. Installation on macOS: `brew install --cask token-monitor`. Version 0.66.0 from 04.10.2026, MIT license, JavaScript.
Who it is for. For people who use several coding tools and want to see total token spending and approaching limits in one widget.
Good fit when
- You need to see token spending and limits across different tools in one place
- You need to watch usage cost on Windows and macOS
- You need tracking that detects usage in WSL
Not a fit when
- You need tracking on Linux as a desktop app: per the README the builds are for Windows and macOS
- You are not ready for the app to read local usage logs
Example request
Show how many tokens and how much money I spent on Claude Code and Codex this week and how close I am to the limitLimitations
The app reads the tools' local usage logs, so it has extended access to them. The approach is local-first, and see the README for how syncing between machines works: we did not check it. Builds are for Windows 10 and newer and macOS 12 and newer. Version 0.x, so behavior may change.
How to disable. Remove the app (brew uninstall --cask token-monitor or the usual program removal) and turn off syncing if you enabled it.
