What it does
Command Code is a coding agent working inside a selected project directory. Assign features, fixes, tests or refactoring and review proposed changes. Interactive sessions include a command menu, Bash mode and file-path completion. Its Taste preference profile learns from accepted, rejected and revised changes. Users refine preferences as they work and check whether the agent has incorporated earlier feedback.
Who it is for. Development teams giving a terminal coding agent feedback and sharing code preferences across projects.
Good fit when
- Implement a feature and review proposed edits.
- Reflect recurring style feedback in a preference profile.
- Share an agreed profile across environments.
- Work interactively with an agent inside a project.
Not a fit when
- The codebase cannot be exposed to an agent with command and edit capabilities.
- A preference profile must replace required checks and review.
- You only need reference instructions without an executable agent.
Example request
Propose a bug fix in this project and show the diff and validation. Do not publish the result or push changes to a remote repository.Limitations
For the current CLI, the official Quickstart requires Node.js 22 or newer. The agent works in the selected project directory and includes Bash mode, so limit available files and permissions to the task. Taste depends on feedback and cannot guarantee every project convention without review. Before sharing a Taste profile, inspect its contents and sharing rules to avoid disclosing internal information.
How to disable. End the session and remove the global package if needed. Review retained Taste profiles and edited files separately.
FAQ
How do I start it?
On macOS, Linux or WSL, enter the project directory and run `cmd`. On native Windows use `cmdc`. Complete sign-in through the [official Quickstart](https://commandcode.ai/docs/quickstart).
What feeds Taste?
Accepted, rejected and revised edits. Give feedback on concrete changes.
Can I transfer a profile?
Yes. The [Taste guide](https://commandcode.ai/docs/taste) documents push and pull. `npx taste push --all` sends the whole project profile; inspect its contents and destination first.
How do I open the menu?
Enter `/` in an interactive session and choose a command.
How do I reference a file?
Type `@` and select a completed path to reference that file in the current session.
