How we review

Extended accessThe tool runs code or makes network calls and only reads external data.

This is third-party code. Review the repository files before installing.

What it does

httpx, the ProjectDiscovery CLI, sends HTTP probes to a target list and reports responses. An agent can check owned hosts, page titles, status and selected service signals. Inputs include URLs, hostnames and IP address ranges. Agree on the target list before running. Concurrency and request rate are configurable. Filtered structured output supports further analysis; optional probes collect certificates, screenshots or response content when required.

Who it is for. Operations teams checking owned web assets for unavailable or changed services.

Good fit when

  • After a server migration, the team checks availability for an approved endpoint list.
  • An agent inventories services using response statuses and page titles.
  • In a test environment, an engineer compares HTTP and HTTPS responses.
  • An analyst selects report fields and saves results for another program to process.

Not a fit when

  • Targets or ranges lack owner authorization.
  • You want a public continuous service without additional safeguards.
  • An HTTP probe is expected to prove the absence of vulnerabilities.

Example request

Probe this approved test URL list with httpx at a low rate, retaining only status and title.

Limitations

Source installation requires Go 1.26.10 or later; verify the installed toolchain before building. Default settings generate concurrent requests, so set an authorized target list and suitable rate limits beforehand. HTTPS is probed first and may fall back to HTTP when unavailable; account for this when interpreting results. New releases can change flags and output formats. Compare them with the installed version before updating an automated workflow.

How to disable. Stop httpx and remove scheduled or CI invocations. Stored responses and screenshots remain for separate review.

FAQ

Is this the Python HTTPX library?

No. This is ProjectDiscovery’s web-probing CLI.

How do I limit request rate?

Use `-rate-limit` for a requests-per-second limit or `-rate-limit-minute` for a per-minute limit. Match the setting to the service’s agreed load.

Can I save CSV?

Yes. Use `-csv`.

Are full responses saved?

Full responses need a separate storage option, such as `-store-response`. Leave response-body storage off when the report only needs status and page title.

How do I check supported flags?

Run `httpx -h` for the installed version.
