What it does
MCPorter lets you talk to MCP servers directly, without spinning up a full agent: list a server's tools, call a specific tool with parameters, and get the result in the terminal with one command. It can generate a standalone typed TypeScript client or CLI from an MCP server, and reads existing MCP configs from Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and Windsurf so connections don't need to be set up again.
Who it is for. For developers writing scripts and integrations on top of MCP servers who want to call their tools directly from the terminal or code.

Node 24 or newer is required for npm installs. Private MCP servers need their own credentials or tokens passed into the mcporter config separately.
How to disable. Remove it with npm uninstall -g mcporter or brew uninstall mcporter; the config lives in config/mcporter.json and is removed manually.
