Why this level
- The agent writes and runs widget code that reads APIs and local files and calls commands in the project folder
- A local server on port 13337 holds workspace data and variables set with `moi env set`
Install

What it does
Moi is the `moi-computer` package with a `moi` command and a web interface at `http://localhost:13337`. It installs through Bun 1.3 or newer. The project folder where your agent runs becomes a workspace: Moi adds a `.moi/` directory and a skill that teaches the agent to drive the interface through the CLI. The agent writes live components and wires them to data: APIs, local files, commands and MCP servers. They add up to an overview with widgets, separate tabs (a CRM, a task tracker, a notes store), a shared scratchpad for diagrams and plans, and a theme. Widgets and views are kept in the workspace as code, so the file system stays the source of truth. Moi works with Claude Code, Codex, OpenClaw and Hermes. For the first two a single prompt pointing at the install guide on `moi.computer` is enough; OpenClaw and Hermes have `moi openclaw init` and `moi hermes init`. The server can run as a user-level service that starts at login.
Who it is for. People who work with Claude Code, Codex, OpenClaw or Hermes and want project data, plans and working screens on one panel next to the agent.
Good fit when
- Orders sit in Postgres and the agent should build a funnel dashboard that updates with the data
- Tasks and epics should show up as a light tracker the agent builds for your repository
- An architecture sketch is easier to draw together with the agent on a shared scratchpad than to describe in chat
- Notes, customers or tickets turn into a separate tab-app built from local project files
- The OpenClaw or Hermes agent needs a browser interface with your working data connected
Not a fit when
- Your agent runs in another harness: Moi connects only Claude Code, Codex, OpenClaw and Hermes
- The environment has no Bun 1.3 and you cannot install it
- You want a hosted cloud service with shared team access: Moi runs locally on your machine
- The project ships commercially as a managed service and you have not read the Elastic 2.0 license terms
Example request
Set up Moi for this project and build an overview widget showing the number of open GitHub issuesLimitations
- Bun 1.3 or newer is required; the package does not start without it.
- One OpenClaw agent or one Hermes profile connects to one workspace; others get their own workspaces.
- The Elastic 2.0 license is more restrictive than MIT or Apache, so read its terms before commercial use.
- While the interface is open the app checks npm for a new version once an hour. After an update from the interface the server restarts and the browser reloads itself.
How to disable. `moi service uninstall` removes the service. Remove the package with the package manager you installed it with. The `.moi/` directory stays in the project and has to be deleted by hand.
FAQ
How do I set up Moi for Claude Code?
Install the package with `bun i -g moi-computer` and run `moi start`. Then open Claude Code in the project folder and ask it to read `https://moi.computer/INSTALL.md` and follow the steps: the agent runs `moi init` itself. The panel opens on port 13337.
Does Moi need its own API key?
No, Moi works through the agent you already connected. For Hermes it starts `hermes -p <profile> acp` and talks over stdio, so there is no gateway, port or extra key to configure. Variables for widgets go in with `moi env set` or a `.env` file.
How do I keep Moi running all the time?
Run `moi service install`: it creates a launchd service on macOS and a systemd user unit on Linux, no root needed. The service starts at login and restarts after a crash. Follow logs with `moi service logs -f`.
How do I update Moi?
`moi update` installs the latest release through whichever package manager owns the install: bun, npm, pnpm or yarn. The `--check` flag changes nothing and exits 0 when up to date, 1 when an update exists and 2 when the check failed. A service restarts itself, while a manual `moi start` has to be restarted.
Does Moi have a crypto token?
No. The project has no token, coin or NFT and the maintainer never will. Any token that uses the Moi name, logo or the maintainer's name is unauthorized; report it to the platform where it is listed.

README in short
The repository page opens with the idea of a UI for your AI and lists the features: workspace, theme, scratchpad, overview and views. It continues with a Bun quick start, how the agent drives the CLI, and sections for connecting Claude Code and Codex, OpenClaw and Hermes. It closes with running as a service, updating, and a statement that the project has no crypto token.
