Extended access
Why this level
- The client executes SQL with database-user privileges and can read or modify data; read-only permissions must be set in the database.
Install
In your terminal, with SkillFoxx CLI

What it does
sqlit connects to multiple database types through one terminal UI. Users select a connection, browse tables and write SQL with schema-aware completion. Query history and result views support agent-assisted investigation. Its batch CLI executes agreed SQL from a string or file and returns CSV or JSON. Named connections and driver setup simplify reuse, while mock data allows interface exploration without a real database.
Who it is for. Analysts switching among database systems and giving agents bounded SQL query results.
Good fit when
- A test schema needs inspection without a large GUI client.
- An agent-prepared read query needs JSON output.
- Several databases need named saved connections.
- The interface should be explored with demo data before a real connection.
Not a fit when
- The selected connection’s permissions must not be granted.
- You expect the client to make arbitrary SQL read-only automatically.
- Query results contain data forbidden from reaching the model.
Example request
Use sqlit to run the approved SELECT against a test database with a read-only role and return a bounded JSON result.Limitations
The package requires Python 3.10 or later and may need an additional driver for the selected database. SQL runs with connection permissions, so use a read-only account for agent analysis. Passwords use the OS keyring when available while other connection details are saved in configuration; inspect behavior on your platform. Query history and exports may hold confidential data, so limit result size and storage scope.
How to disable. Exit sqlit and remove unused saved connections. Revoke dedicated database credentials separately; exported results remain on disk.
FAQ
How do I try it without a database?
Run `sqlit --mock=sqlite-demo`.
How do I choose a saved connection?
Use `sqlit -c "MyConnection"` with its name.
Can SQL come from a file?
Yes. Query mode supports `-f` and output-format selection.
What if a driver is missing?
The wizard shows the appropriate package and installation method for the environment.
Is SSH tunneling supported?
Yes, with optional SSH dependencies documented separately.
