What it does

TanStack CLI scaffolds and configures TanStack Start and Router applications. The create command builds a project: a full SSR Start app by default, or a single-page app on file-based routing with the router-only flag. Add-ons wire in auth, a database, deployment, monitoring and other blocks, both at creation and into an existing project via the add command. For coding agents there is introspection: commands print the add-on list, add-on details, the ecosystem library list and a docs search as JSON, so an agent can decide deterministically. The former built-in MCP server has been removed; agents now use direct CLI commands with the json flag instead. The intent flag adds local skill mappings for coding agents to the project.

Who it is for. For React or Solid frontend developers and their coding agents who create and configure TanStack applications.

Limitations

You need Node and a package manager. The create command installs dependencies and writes files into the project directory, supporting npm, pnpm, yarn, bun and deno. The CLI sends anonymous usage telemetry by default: disable it with DO_NOT_TRACK=1 or TANSTACK_CLI_TELEMETRY_DISABLED=1, or the tanstack telemetry disable command; it is off in CI. The built-in MCP server is removed and will not return.

How to disable. No separate install is needed when run via npx. If you installed the package globally, remove @tanstack/cli with your package manager.
