tt (Tarantool CLI)

Tarantool CLI

The tt utility for managing Tarantool instances, environments and packages in development and operations

CLIMedium risk

tarantool/tt

Install

brew install tt

macOS

This is third-party code. Review the repository files before installing.

What it does

tt starts, stops and checks Tarantool instances, creates applications from templates, builds them and packs environments into tarball, RPM or Deb. It introduces environments defined by a tt.yaml file, so different tarantool and tt versions can coexist on one system. It also offers commands for LuaRocks, cluster configuration, replicasets and reading .snap and .xlog files.

Who it is for. Developers and administrators of Tarantool-based applications.

Good fit when

  • You set up a local Tarantool environment with tt init
  • You need to start or restart several instances and check their status
  • You prepare an application package for delivery with tt pack
  • You migrate from tarantoolctl to tt

Not a fit when

  • The project does not use Tarantool
  • You work on Windows: installation is described for Linux and macOS

Example request

Create a tt environment in this folder, enable the application, start all instances and show tt status

Limitations

The tt daemon mode is marked experimental. On macOS a downloaded binary has to be allowed manually in security settings. The rocks, install and search commands need curl or wget, zip, unzip and Git.

How to disable. Remove the tt package with your package manager or deny the tt command for the agent.

Security check

  • Starts and stops Tarantool processes
  • The clean command removes instance files

README in short

Tarantool CLI is a utility for managing Tarantool packages and Tarantool-based applications. Its core concept is an environment defined by tt.yaml, with system, local and default launch modes. tt installs from deb and rpm repositories, Homebrew, a Gentoo overlay or GitHub Releases. The README covers building with Mage and the full command list.

FAQ

Where does tt look for configuration?

By default tt searches for tt.yaml from the current directory up to the root and falls back to /etc/tarantool.
