What it does
wecom-cli is a Rust command-line tool for WeCom (企业微信), Tencent's workplace messenger. It installs from npm with `npm install -g @wecom/cli`, and `wecom-cli auth init` sets up the login: by default it shows a QR code to scan in the app, and with `--manual` you type the credentials in. The repository also ships 15 agent skills, and the README calls installing them required: `npx skills add WeComTeam/wecom-cli -y -g`. They are split by task: contacts, calendar, online meetings, to-dos, mail, disk, media files, messages, documents, sheets, smart sheets, smart pages and slides. The shared wecomcli-shared skill checks before any command that the CLI is installed, its version is at least 1.2.1 and the account is authorized. Calendar and meetings are separate skills: the calendar handles events without a conference link, and meetings handle events with a meeting number and join link. When a request does not say which one to create, the calendar skill makes the agent ask first. The mail skill searches messages and reads body text, attachments and inline images.
Who it is for. Employees of companies that run on WeCom who want an AI agent to handle messenger routine: scheduling a meeting, finding a document, sorting incoming mail.
Good fit when
- You need to schedule a meeting for several colleagues: the agent finds them in the address book, checks free time and books a room
- A summary has to be built from WeCom documents: the agent searches files by name and reads text and table data
- Team to-dos live in WeCom: the agent creates them from a conversation, assigns people and marks finished ones
- After an online meeting you want the outcome: the meetings skill pulls the minutes, the action items and the recording transcript
- Files move between the disk and chats by hand: the agent uploads and downloads them through the disk and media skills
Not a fit when
- There is no corporate WeCom account: `wecom-cli auth init` will not finish without one
- The agent has to send email: the mail skill only searches and reads
- Security policy forbids sending the agent's program name out, and the prebuilt npm build does it by default
- Your meetings are recurring series: the calendar skill cannot update or cancel recurring events

- A WeCom account is required. Bot mode also needs a Bot ID and Secret; the README links to how to get them.
- The prebuilt npm build sends the agent program name and call chain to the WeCom cloud by default. Turning it off takes a source build: `cargo build -p wecom-cli --no-default-features`.
- The CLI lists sending mail among its features, but the mail skill does not support it: it searches and reads, and does not reply, forward, flag or delete.

How to disable. `npm uninstall -g @wecom/cli` removes the tool. Skills installed through `npx skills add` live in your agent's skills folder: delete the directories whose names start with wecomcli-.
FAQ
How do I install WeCom CLI for Claude Code?
Run `npm install -g @wecom/cli`, then `npx skills add WeComTeam/wecom-cli -y -g`, then `wecom-cli auth init` and scan the QR code in WeCom. Node.js 18 or newer is required. Without the skills the agent does not know how to call the commands, so the second step is not optional.
What does WeCom CLI send to the cloud besides requests?
The name of the agent program that invoked the command and its call chain; the developer says this helps trace problems. Collection is on in the npm build, and to turn it off you build the CLI from source with `cargo build -p wecom-cli --no-default-features`.
Can the agent send email through WeCom CLI?
No, the mail skill is read-only: it searches messages and opens the body, attachments and inline images. Sending, replying, forwarding, flagging and deleting are not supported by the skill.
How do the calendar and meetings skills differ?
The calendar handles events without a conference link, including in-person ones, and checks attendee availability. The meetings skill manages online meetings with a number and join link and pulls minutes, action items and the transcript. When it is unclear what to create, the agent asks first.
Which platforms does WeCom CLI support?
macOS and Linux on x64 and arm64, and Windows on x64. Node.js 18 or newer and a WeCom account are needed. The smart bot's Bot ID and Secret are required only for bot mode, and the README links to how to get them.
