Access and checks
How we reviewExtended accessThe tool runs code or makes network calls and only reads external data.

This is third-party code. Review the repository files before installing.
What it does
Yazi combines directory navigation, a file list and previews in one terminal window. Users can find a document, inspect an image or source file and copy an exact path for an agent. Tabs and cross-directory selection help gather material for a task. The manager also handles file operations, bulk renaming and archive extraction. Background tasks can be inspected and cancelled. External utilities and plugins extend search, previews and remote access, so capabilities depend on local setup.
Who it is for. Developers selecting files for a terminal agent and inspecting content beside their shell.
Good fit when
- An agent request needs a verified file or image path.
- Task materials are spread across directories.
- Generated files need sorting and renaming.
- A long file operation needs visible progress and cancellation.
Not a fit when
- The task must run unattended without interactive selection.
- The manager must not access the working files.
- Every terminal must show identical previews without additional utilities.
Example request
Identify which project files are needed to investigate the error; I will inspect them in Yazi and supply exact paths.Limitations
The project is in public beta, and updates can introduce configuration incompatibilities. File detection requires the `file` utility, while additional preview formats have their own dependencies. Image display depends on terminal graphics support; some environments need an external renderer. Plugins and custom actions work with user files, so inspect an extension’s source and command behavior before enabling it.
How to disable. Quit Yazi with `q` and cancel unneeded background tasks. Review completed moves, renames and deletions separately.
