What it does
ArcticDB MCP connects an agent to ArcticDB, a store for time series and tables: it reads and writes data. Launch: `uvx arcticdb-mcp`, also `pipx install arcticdb-mcp` or `pip install arcticdb-mcp`. The database connection is set by a variable, for example `ARCTICDB_URI=lmdb:///tmp/test_db` for a local LMDB. There are no GitHub releases and the `arcticdb-mcp` package is on PyPI. MIT license.
Who it is for. For analysts and data engineers who keep time series in ArcticDB and want to read and append them from an agent.
Good fit when
- Your data lives in ArcticDB
- You need to read and write time series from an agent
- You need a quick start on a local LMDB
Not a fit when
- You cannot let an agent write to a production database
- You need a server for another database
Example request
Show the list of libraries in the test database and read the last hundred rows of the price tableMCP
- Transport
- stdio
- Authentication
- not required
Environment variables
ARCTICDB_URIrequired- Environment variable ARCTICDB_URI, the value is set in the client or a .env file
Limitations
The server can write to the database, so access is extended: start with a test LMDB and separate ArcticDB libraries. There are no GitHub releases and the version comes from PyPI.
How to disable. Remove the server entry from the client and the package with pip uninstall arcticdb-mcp or pipx uninstall arcticdb-mcp.
FAQ
What does ArcticDB MCP do?
It reads and writes data of ArcticDB, a time series store, from an agent.
How do I launch it?
uvx arcticdb-mcp, with the ARCTICDB_URI variable setting the database.
Can it be used on a production database?
The server can write, so start with a test LMDB.
