What it does

CodeRocket UI, an open-source React and Vue component library, ships the `@coderocketapp/mcp` MCP server for agents. The server is read-only: it returns a saved library's design system, integration rules, component list, component search and the source files of a chosen component with dependencies. React libraries return React code, Vue libraries return native Vue single-file components. The `@coderocketapp/cli` CLI can be added too: `init`, `list`, `add` and `sync` bring editable component source into an application and keep local changes on update. Libraries are created and saved in the Studio at ui.coderocket.app.

Who it is for. Frontend developers on React or Vue who maintain their own design system and want an agent to build interfaces by its rules.

Good fit when

  • An agent builds a screen and must reuse the library's ready components.
  • New components are written to match the project's tokens.
  • A suitable block is found by description through component search.
  • Component source in the app is updated with the `sync` command.

Not a fit when

  • There is no library in Studio: the server needs a saved library and a token.
  • Svelte or SolidJS is required: the README lists them as planned without dates.
  • Node.js cannot be upgraded to version 24.

Build a login form from my CodeRocket library's components and follow its token rules.

Environment variables

`CODEROCKET_LIBRARY` required
Saved library ID from the Studio Connect dialog.
`CODEROCKET_TOKEN` required, secret
Read-only connection token for one library; valid for 90 days.
`CODEROCKET_SERVER`
Origin of a different Studio deployment; defaults to `https://ui.coderocket.app`.

Limitations

Node.js 24 or newer, a Studio account, a saved library and a connection token are required. A token gives read access to one library, expires after 90 days and is revoked in the Connect dialog. Keep it out of the repository. The catalogue is experimental in early access: check accessibility and behavior in your own app. The React and Vue packages remain source workspaces and are not published to npm. For a different Studio deployment set `CODEROCKET_SERVER`; the default is `https://ui.coderocket.app`.

How to disable. Remove the `coderocket` entry from the client's MCP configuration and revoke the connection token in the Studio Connect dialog. Component source installed by the CLI stays in your app.

FAQ

How do I connect the MCP server?

Add a server to the MCP client with the command `npx` and arguments `-y` and `@coderocketapp/mcp@latest`, then pass `CODEROCKET_LIBRARY` and `CODEROCKET_TOKEN`. Restart the server after changing the configuration.

Which tools are available?

Among them `get_design_system`, `get_design_rules`, `list_components`, `search_components` and `get_component`.

Is an AI provider key needed?

No. The CLI and MCP work without an AI provider key.

Can I go without an account?

The MIT-licensed component source is available without an account. The MCP server needs an account and a saved library.

How do I install the CLI?

Set `CODEROCKET_LIBRARY` and `CODEROCKET_TOKEN`, then run `npx @coderocketapp/cli@latest init` in the app directory. The `sync` command keeps local changes.
