Extended access
Why this level
- Starts a local process through npx and takes the latest package version from npm on every launch
- In HTTP mode it opens a port on your machine: 127.0.0.1 by default, but a different address exposes it to other devices on the network
Install
- Works in
In your terminal, with SkillFoxx CLI
npx skillfoxx add mcp/reactuse-mcpDetects the agents on your machine, shows the access level and pins the version.

What it does
ReactUse MCP is the server from the @reactuses/mcp package. It gives an agent a reference for the ReactUse React hooks library (@reactuses/core): more than 110 hooks in the browser, effect, element, state and integrations categories. Three tools are read-only. `get_hook` returns a hook's description, usage example and API table by name, case-insensitive. `list_hooks` lists hooks and can be limited to a category. `search_hooks` finds a hook by query. Besides tools, the server exposes the `reactuse://index` resource: a JSON index of every hook with its category, docs URL and description. The server also ships two prompts. `find_hook` helps pick a hook for a task, and `migrate_from_vueuse` maps a VueUse composable to its ReactUse counterpart with migration notes. It runs over stdio by default; the `--http` flag switches to Streamable HTTP.
Who it is for. For React developers writing code with Claude Code, Cursor or Codex who want the agent to pick ReactUse hooks from the reference instead of inventing signatures.
Good fit when
- You need a hook for a specific task, such as clipboard access, and ask the agent to find it in ReactUse
- The agent is writing a component and must check a hook's parameters against the API table
- You are porting Vue code and need to map a VueUse composable to a ReactUse equivalent
- You want to browse the hooks of one category and choose one
- You are evaluating the library and want the agent to show usage examples of several hooks
Not a fit when
- You need documentation for other libraries: the server only knows ReactUse hooks. Context7 covers other packages
- You need to install a package or change the project: the server changes nothing and only answers questions about hooks
- The project is not built on React: the hooks only work in React apps
- You pin an old library version: the reference ships with the server version, so descriptions may differ from yours

Environment variables
PORT- Port for HTTP mode, 3000 by default.
HOST- Address for HTTP mode, 127.0.0.1 by default.
Limitations
The server covers a single package, @reactuses/core: it sees neither other libraries nor your code. All three tools are marked read-only; the agent itself installs dependencies and edits files.
The standard configuration runs `npx -y @reactuses/mcp@latest`, so the package is taken at its latest version on every start with no pinning. Node.js is required. In HTTP mode the server listens on 127.0.0.1, port 3000 by default. The package comes from the npm registry, and its availability from Russia was not checked for this card.
How to disable. Remove the server with `claude mcp remove reactuse`, or delete the `@reactuses/mcp` block from the MCP configuration in Cursor and other clients. The service needs no keys, so after removal the agent simply stops using the reference.
FAQ
How do I connect ReactUse MCP to Claude Code?
Run `claude mcp add reactuse -- npx -y @reactuses/mcp@latest` and restart Claude Code. No key is needed. Cursor and other clients get a JSON configuration block with the same `npx` launch over stdio.
What does the ReactUse MCP server do?
It searches hooks, lists them by category and returns a hook's description, example and API table. It also has a resource with the index of all hooks and two prompts: `find_hook` and `migrate_from_vueuse`.
How do I migrate a VueUse composable to ReactUse?
Call the `migrate_from_vueuse` prompt with the composable name, for example useStorage. The server names the closest ReactUse equivalent if the mapping table has one and adds migration notes.
Does ReactUse MCP need a key or an account?
No. The configuration has no environment variables or keys: the server starts locally through `npx`.
Can the server run over HTTP?
Yes, with `npx -y @reactuses/mcp@latest --http`: the default port is 3000 and the address is 127.0.0.1. The `--port` flag sets another port and `--host` another address; both also read the PORT and HOST variables. The default mode stays stdio.

README in short
ReactUse is a set of more than 100 hooks for browser APIs, state, sensors and animations, inspired by VueUse. The library supports tree-shaking, TypeScript types and server-side rendering. The MCP section is short and consists of a configuration block with `npx`. For models the project offers a docs version at `https://reactuse.com/llms.txt`.
