What it does
EasyEDA Copilot consists of an extension for EasyEDA Pro and the `easyeda-copilot-mcp` MCP server. The extension finds a local bridge, and the agent gets real data from the open project: schematic pages, components, nets, the board and layers. On the schematic side the agent inspects a page, resolves components by manufacturer MPN or UUID, creates a circuit, completes a fragment and reorganizes the page into named functional blocks. Designator numbering can be preserved or resequenced across several pages at once. On the board side the agent describes placement in a constraint language, then routing rules, net classes, copper planes and via stitching. The result is inspected through layers, net highlighting and the built-in DRC. A full document checkpoint is saved before risky changes and restored automatically if assembly or routing fails. Long placement and routing runs return an operation ID that the client can wait on, continue or cancel. Every object stays editable in EasyEDA rather than being a picture.
Who it is for. Electronics engineers and hardware developers who draw schematics and boards in EasyEDA Pro or JLCEDA and want an agent to take on routine work: parts, placement and routing.
Good fit when
- You need a regulator or controller schematic from a text spec with parts picked by part numbers
- A multi-page schematic is messy and you want it laid out in functional blocks without losing connections
- The board has constraints: an antenna at the edge, mounting holes, the order of an amplifier chain
- After routing you want to inspect critical nets and run the built-in DRC with a violation review
- Duplicate and missing designators across several pages must be fixed in one transaction
Not a fit when
- You work in KiCad, Altium or another CAD tool: the extension targets EasyEDA Pro and JLCEDA only
- You need electrical and manufacturability review: the tool guards the document against failures but does not replace engineer review
- EasyEDA Pro Desktop is not installed: a web version is not listed
- A block needs careful manual routing of RF traces where every millimeter matters
Example request
Inspect the open schematic, find designators that clash and suggest how to lay the page out into power, USB and controller blocksMCP

Limitations
- EasyEDA Pro Desktop, Node.js 20.19 or newer and an MCP client such as Codex or Claude Code are required. The `.eext` extension installs from releases through the extension manager, where External Interactions must be enabled.
- Rollback protects the document from a failed operation. Electrical and manufacturability review of the result remains normal engineering work.
- A successfully applied partial routing result stays for inspection and focused repair.
- The standalone skill instead of MCP must be built from the repository with `npm ci` and `npm run build:skill`, and no archives exist in releases.
How to disable. In EasyEDA Pro pause the connection from the Copilot menu, then MCP, or remove the extension in the extension manager. Remove the server from agents with `claude mcp remove easyeda-copilot` or `codex mcp remove easyeda-copilot`. Checkpoints live inside the EasyEDA document.
FAQ
How do I connect EasyEDA Copilot to Claude Code?
First import the `.eext` into EasyEDA Pro and enable External Interactions, then run `claude mcp add easyeda-copilot -- npx -y easyeda-copilot-mcp`. After that open the project in the editor.
Does the extension work with KiCad?
No, it talks to native EasyEDA Pro and JLCEDA documents. Other CAD tools need other integrations.
What happens if routing fails?
Applying runs as a single transaction with a checkpoint, and on an error the previous state is restored. The same checkpoint can be restored by hand.
How do I handle a long routing run?
The operation returns an ID. The client can wait for the result, cancel the work or reapply an already prepared result without recomputing.
Can I skip MCP?
Yes, a standalone skill with a CLI builds from the repository and calls the same tools. Prebuilt skill archives do not exist in releases, so you build it yourself.

README in short
The README opens with a showcase 2 GHz RF amplifier design, then adds two more examples: an ESP32-C3 controller and a MIMXRT1011 board. It continues with a quick start, a capabilities table, checkpoint behaviour and step-by-step schematic and PCB workflows linking to the placement and routing languages.
