What it does
Facebook Ads Library MCP adds eight tools for working with the Facebook Ads Library to Claude Desktop or Cursor. `get_meta_platform_id` turns brand names into page IDs, `get_meta_ads` pulls their current ads, and both handle several brands at once. You can ask the agent how many ads a company runs, how they split between video and image, and which techniques repeat in them. Images go through `analyze_ad_image`: elements, text, colors and composition. Videos are analyzed by `analyze_ad_video` and the batch `analyze_ad_videos_batch` through Gemini. Results are cached locally, and `get_cache_stats`, `search_cached_media` and `cleanup_media_cache` manage the cache.
Who it is for. For marketers and product owners who study competitors' ads and look for the messages and formats that work in their niche.
Good fit when
- You want to know how many ads a competitor runs now and in which formats
- You want to compare messaging across several brands in one niche in a single prompt
- You need a breakdown of video ads: pacing, delivery, key messages
- You are preparing a review of ad creatives and looking for repeated techniques among market leaders
- You want to return to ads already analyzed and find them by brand, color or type
Not a fit when
- You need to manage your own campaigns and budgets: the server reads other brands' public ads
- You have no ScrapeCreators key or cannot spend its credits
- You need exact impression and spend data for competitors

Environment variables
SCRAPECREATORS_API_KEYrequired, secret- Key for the third-party ScrapeCreators API through which the server gets ads library data
GEMINI_API_KEYsecret- Google Gemini key for video ad analysis
Limitations
Data comes through the paid third-party ScrapeCreators API, and every request spends credits on your account. Video analysis works only with a Google Gemini key, and the Google Gemini API is unavailable from Russia. The server runs locally and needs Python 3.12 or newer and a Claude Desktop or Cursor client. The ads library does not disclose impressions or spend for other brands' ads, so the server has no such figures. The authors also promote a hosted Proxy version at useproxy.dev, while this repository covers self-hosting under the MIT license.
How to disable. Remove the fb_ad_library entry from claude_desktop_config.json or mcp.json and restart the client. You can delete the repository folder with its virtual environment and .env file; the media cache is cleared with `cleanup_media_cache`.
FAQ
How do I install Facebook Ads Library MCP in Claude Desktop?
Clone the repository and run install.sh or install.bat. The script creates a virtual environment, prepares .env and prints a config snippet for claude_desktop_config.json. Enter your keys and restart Claude Desktop.
Which keys does it need?
SCRAPECREATORS_API_KEY is required: the server gets library data through it. GEMINI_API_KEY is needed only for video ad analysis.
What does the server do besides ad search?
It analyzes ad images and videos, handles several videos in one call, caches results, and lets you search already analyzed material by brand, colors, people or media type.
Is there a version with no install?
The authors offer a hosted Proxy version at useproxy.dev. It needs neither Python nor your own ScrapeCreators and Gemini keys, and the service itself sets the terms and data handling.
How is it different from Meta Ads MCP?
Meta Ads MCP works with your own ad campaigns, budgets and analytics. This server reads the public ads library and breaks down other brands' creatives.
