What it does
Garmin MCP reads Garmin Connect data (activities, health metrics) and can edit activity names, type and notes. It works through the unofficial python-garminconnect library and not the official Garmin API, so breakages are possible. A sign-in by email and password is needed once: `uvx --python 3.12 --from git+https://github.com/Taxuspt/garmin_mcp garmin-mcp-auth`, and tokens are stored in `~/.garminconnect` for about six months. There is a `.dxt` file for Claude Desktop and Docker. Version 0.1.0 from 08.05.2026, MIT license.
Who it is for. For people who train with a Garmin watch and want to review workouts and sleep with an agent.
Good fit when
- You need a review of workouts and health metrics from Garmin Connect
- You need to rename activities and add notes
- You need an MCP server for Garmin data
Not a fit when
- You need the official Garmin API: the library is unofficial
- You cannot give an agent health data
Example request
Show my runs for the last month and compare pace and heart rate by weekMCP
- Transport
- stdio
- Authentication
- API key
Limitations
The server works through an unofficial library and may break when Garmin changes things. Health data is sensitive and sign-in goes by your email and password with tokens kept on disk for about six months, so access is extended. The agent can change activity names and notes.
How to disable. Remove the server entry, the ~/.garminconnect folder with tokens and change the Garmin password if you shared the sign-in.
FAQ
Is this the official Garmin API?
No, the server uses the unofficial python-garminconnect library.
Where are the tokens stored?
In ~/.garminconnect for about six months.

Activity names, type and notes.
