What it does
Hevy MCP connects an agent to workout data in the Hevy app: programs, exercise templates and folders. Launch: `npx -y hevy-mcp`, Docker `ghcr.io/chrisdoc/hevy-mcp:latest`, client setup `npx add-mcp hevy-mcp --env "HEVY_API_KEY=your-key"`. The API key is issued only to Hevy PRO users, a paid subscription. There is an HTTP mode with a token. Version 6.1.20 from 04.10.2026, MIT license. The README has a section on process telemetry, read it.
Who it is for. For people who log workouts in Hevy and want an agent to help build programs and templates.
Good fit when
- You need to build workout programs in Hevy from an agent
- You need exercise templates and folders
- You need an MCP server for Hevy
Not a fit when
- You have no Hevy PRO subscription: the API key is unavailable without it
- You cannot let an agent edit workout data
Example request
Build a four-week program for the bench press, squat and deadlift and show the templates you will create in HevyMCP
- Transport
- stdio, http
- Authentication
- API key
Environment variables
HEVY_API_KEYrequired, secret- Environment variable HEVY_API_KEY, the value is set in the client or a .env file
Limitations
A Hevy API key is needed and it is available only with paid Hevy PRO. The agent can edit workouts, templates and folders in your account, so access is extended. The README describes process telemetry: study the section and turn it off if you wish. Do not publish the key.
How to disable. Remove the server entry from the client and revoke the API key in the Hevy settings.
