What it does
The server connects to Mail.ru mail over TLS IMAP and gives an agent seven tools: listing recent or unread messages, reading one message by a stable IMAP UID with an option not to mark it as read, searching by subject or sender, listing folders, marking all messages in a folder as read, and counting all and unread messages in one folder or across all configured folders. The only tool that changes mailbox state is mail_mark_all_read; sending and deleting mail are not implemented at all.
Who it is for. For people who want to give an agent safe, read-only access to Mail.ru mail with no risk of sending or deleting messages.
Good fit when
- You want an overview of unread mail with no risk of accidentally sending or deleting anything
- You want to find a message by subject or sender and read it without changing its read status
- You want a message count across several folders at once
Not a fit when
- You need to send or delete mail: the server deliberately does not do this
- You need bulk folder sorting or archiving: there are no such tools here

The project has a single author, is very small, with no releases or PyPI packaging, and installs from source. It needs separate app-specific credentials, not the main Mail.ru account password. Message bodies are truncated to 4000 characters.
How to disable. Remove the mailru entry from your MCP client config.

FAQ
Can the server send mail?
No, sending and deleting mail are not implemented; it only reads and organizes reading.
Does reading a message change its status?
By default mail_read marks a message as read, but mark_read=false preserves its original status.
