Why this level
- Installing by an internet script runs someone else's code
- The server listens on a port and keeps the bearer token in .env
- The license grants no rights to OpenAI, Anthropic and persons acting on their behalf
Install
- Works in
Manual install
curl -fsSL "https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Dicklesworthstone/mcp_agent_mail/main/scripts/install.sh?$(date +%s)" | bash -s -- --yesA script from the internet: read it before running. It starts the server on port 8765 and prints a masked bearer token. Options: --port, --dir, --token, --no-start.

What it does
MCP Agent Mail works as a mail system for several coding agents in one project. Each agent has a memorable name, an inbox and an outbox, message history search and voluntary file reservations so they do not edit the same thing at once. Storage in Git gives verifiable artifacts, with SQLite alongside. The FastMCP server works over HTTP only, with bearer token authorization that the installer generates and keeps in `.env`. Installation: the `install.sh` script installs the server, starts it on port 8765 and prints a masked token (the `--port`, `--dir`, `--token` and `--no-start` options), or a clone, uv and Python 3.14. The repository has ready MCP configs for Cline, Codex, Cursor and others.
Who it is for. For people who run several coding agents on one repository and want them to agree without getting in each other's way.
Good fit when
- Several agents edit one repository and you need file reservations to avoid conflicts
- You need agent message history with search and verifiable artifacts in Git
- You need ready MCP configs for Cline, Codex or Cursor
Not a fit when
- You or your company are tied to OpenAI or Anthropic: the license grants them no rights to the program
- You need a simple installation without an internet script and a token
Example request
Reserve the payment module files for the backend agent, write to it that the tests are ready and find past messages about this moduleMCP

Limitations
The license is MIT with a rider: no rights are granted to OpenAI, L.L.C., Anthropic, PBC, their affiliates and persons acting on their behalf, at their direction or in their interest, including employees and contractors, without the author's written permission. Giving them the program or access to it is prohibited, and use includes running, testing, indexing and including in training and evaluation sets. There is no restriction for ordinary agent users. Installing by an internet script runs someone else's code: read it before running. The server listens on port 8765 and requires a bearer token. Version 0.3.2 from 29.09.2026.
How to disable. Stop the server, remove the mcp-agent-mail entry from the client configs and the install folder together with the .env file that holds the token.
